ID this song for me?

…made difficult by the fact I can’t remember any of the words.

It’s got a drum (and possibly bass guitar) part running all the way through the song. There’s a sort of screaming/yodellling part before each verse/chorus bit. And that’s all I can remember. Good luck.

When I’m in the pub and can’t identify a song I like I get my mobile out and dial 2580. Let the mike pick up the tune, and the service hangs up after a few seconds, and sends you a text message with the song and artist details. (also with links to the song as ringtone and shit). If the service can’t get it they charge nothing, but they almost always do. It works with all UK mobile networks, and is called shazam.

Otherwise I might have to give a vague description on a message board

The Immigrant Song, by Led Zeppelin?

“We come from the Land of the Ice and Snow, where the midnight sun and the hot springs blow.”

Aiiiiiiiiiiii-eeeeeeeeeee-AAAAAAA-AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!

Yes!

Wow. Second post, with my incredibly vague details. Hooray for the boards (and his majesty, TSLK)!

Jaw-drop

That is truly amazing. The most astonishing peice of musical deduction I’ve seen in a very long time.

Apologies for the double-post, but that song reminded me of something I must share.

First thing I thought of, too…

Do they have something like this in the USA? I almost saved 2580 to my phone but kept reading and saw it said it works with all UK mobile…

Also, how much does it cost? I’m curious…

Bows Thank you, Thank you. That song was fresh to my mind, I had just this very afternoon, watched disc two of the new Led Zeppelin DVD, which opens with The Immigrant Song. Even a Truffled Pig shoots a blind acorn in the dark, now and then.

Seeing the Viking Kittens again was cool, too. :stuck_out_tongue:

Brendon, it looks like they trade under a different name in the States. See This article which describes a partnership with an American cell provider.

Here’s a link to the US details.

I couldn’t find any info about costs on the website.

In my first linked article it says first go is free, subsequently 99 cents. No charge if the song is not recognised.

A warning however, when I first found out about it I went into the deepest depths of my music collection trying to defeat it, and ended spending a ton of money.

Thanks Struan - I just noticed that I hadn’t read this thread in a while and was still subscribed to it. I must have overlooked the new posts. I appreciate you finding the site for me.
