Idaho caveman dead at 94

God bless him! I have a lot of respect for people like Zimmerman.

-He was the last of Idaho’s river-canyon loners that date back to Territorial days. They are a unique group that until the 1980s included canyon contemporaries with names like Beaver Dick, Cougar Dave and Wheelbarrow Annie, “Buckskin Bill” (real name Sylvan Hart) and “Free Press Frances” Wisner. Fiercely independent loners, they lived eccentric lives on their own terms and made the state more interesting just by being here.

I love civilization ans technology and international travel and men on the moon and all that but part of me loves that we have a guy or two like him around.

I never knew him but he’ll be missed.

That documentary is fascinating.
I am not much of a TV watcher, but every time that would come on, I would forget about anything else I had to do and just become enveloped into his story.
Like Dugout Dick, Mr. Preneke lived a life which I could never take on, but I am so glad to know that someone else could and would.
