[IDEA] A pen that draws edible food; thoughts?ideas?

This idea can be speculative and imaginative as possible, don’t worry about the technology behind it, just the concept itself and how it can be improved/changed.

I was sweeping around the internet trying to find a similar concept, yet I failed (if you have heard of something similar please tell me). Anyway I was speculating some shit in my spare time and came up with the ‘FEDEN’ (FEED+PEN… yeah… I’m still working on that…:c ).

This pen, allows the user to draw out the food they want to eat. If I were to draw an apple, than it would materialise and would be edible. Please write down any thoughts/ideas/extensions (anything useful). Thanks.

I like magic, too.

I’d starve.
Should this be in Cafe Society? It is about art and food.

Maybe it could draw flour in circles, building up on one another until you’ve got a noodle shaped like a tube. You could call it Pen a Pasta.

smacks LHoD with a wet noodle.

You mean edible ink. Right?

Can I use alphabet noodles to write out “chocolate cake”?

Finally, the blue food!

(George Carlin reference)

Even though the OP’s idea requires magic, not engineering, I thought I’d point out that 3-D printed food is an actual thing.

Awesome This pen would resolve the world’s hunger problem – as long as everyone could afford a pen.

But why restrict such a great idea to food? Make it so that whatever you draw materializes. Everyone in the world could have everything they wanted – provided they could afford a pen.

How much do you think this pen will cost?
P.S. Welcome to the SDMB, eats_sushi.

[Dr. Evil]One Hundred BILLION Dollars mmm-hmmm-muuuaahh hahahahahahaha[/Dr. Evil]

also what ioioio said, with the addition of … 'ware the ice cream

I’ll bet old Sneelock could make it.

“The strawberries taste like strawberries! The snozzberries taste like snozzberries!”

I’m bad at drawrings. If I draw a bad looking apple, does it taste like a bad apple? Or maybe it kinda looks like a heart, so would it be like an apple-heart flavour?

an idea could be to draw a food item and the closest match of that item can match a food item in a database what would teleport that item to the relative location of the pen drawing

example: draw an apple, closest match is an apple

apple from one area that is connected to the pen materializes at that lcoation it was drawn at

But what if you want Reese’s peanut butter sticks, and you can’t draw them very well? You might end up with asparagus. Or you want a Diet Coke and you’re not very good with logos?

It seems like, to me at least, that it would be easier to just write, or better yet, type the word for the food you want and have it appear.

I like the idea more than a pen that draws inedible food.

This idea penalizes the poor artist. “I didn’t want a shoe! I wanted a steak!”

Or the non-representational one. Pablo Picasso would wind up with mostly oddly-colored boxes and cardboard cutouts of things. Probably not edible.
