Ideas as wise as ground zero mosque

I vote for Kent State National Guard Marksmanship Range.

Or “A celebration of American Technology-The Manhatten Project” in Hiroshima

Puh-lease :::eyeroll:::

Its all in fun, wanna play?

Step one: Take a horrific moment in history were many died at the hand of a deluded few.
Step two: Name something that could be erected at the site that should be acceptable, but strikes a nerve.

Islam had nothing to do with 9/11.

You are no fun either, it is a game, not a debate.

A Weber BBQ museum at Dachau?

  • Saddam Hussein’s WMDs

  • The 205 communists who were working in the State Department in 1950

Shall I continue?

Or a Kingsford plant in Tokyo.

I know he’s been dead for over 30 years but I still don’t think it’s a good idea to grind up Zero Mostel.

Building an amusement park on an old Indian burial ground and then hiring Spooky Old Mr. Withers as the night watchman.

Nobody has proposed that a mosque be erected at the site of Ground Zero.

How about public exhibition of intolerance and bigotry in a country whose ground-breaking constitution codifies precisely the opposite?

But ALL MUSLIMS ARE EVIL!* So, it’s ok to be intolerant and bigoted.
*Absolutely not my point of view, although it is the one of some of my ‘religious’ relatives. Go figure.

Even better if the display of intolerance is supported by ‘The Tolerance Museum’ museum_of_tolerance_director_opposes_mosque

Considering that one of the purposes of the proposed cultural center on Park Place is to foster understanding between cultures, so that shit like 9/11 doesn’t happen again, I think a more analogous thing at the original Ground Zero (the one in Hiroshima, that is) would be a Japanese-American cultural exchange center.

I suppose Columbine should get a teenager’s shooting gallery

It cannot be said the members of the SDMB don’t not have an underdeveloped sense of humor, or political correctness, or knee sensitivity, or something…and shit.

Or, perhaps, this just isn’t funny.
