It’s a topic he knows something about. The Wiesenthal Center caused an uproar in for building one of its Museums of Tolerance on top of an old Muslim burial ground in Jerusalem.

The building of that museum has “resulted in digging up the remains of people who had been buried in a Muslim cemetery for generations,” according to City University professor Marnia Lazreg. Indeed, in 2006, workers dug up bones, and an Arab group sued to stop the project from going forward.

Actually, while it is pretty nearly as bad, the TPM people have an error in this story.

The Wiesenthal Center is a primary source of funding for the Museum of Tolerance, but the actual Museum of Tolerance, in New York, is a separate organization, none of whose members have (yet) made as stupid a statement as Rabbi May. The story about the Muslim cemetary in Jerusalem is broadly true, although, given the reporter’s inability to distinguish between the Museum of Tolerance and the Wiesenthal Center, I am not sure which organization was involved in that mess.
