Actually, while it is pretty nearly as bad, the TPM people have an error in this story.
The Wiesenthal Center is a primary source of funding for the Museum of Tolerance, but the actual Museum of Tolerance, in New York, is a separate organization, none of whose members have (yet) made as stupid a statement as Rabbi May. The story about the Muslim cemetary in Jerusalem is broadly true, although, given the reporter’s inability to distinguish between the Museum of Tolerance and the Wiesenthal Center, I am not sure which organization was involved in that mess.
The comparison doesn’t work. “Islam” is a disunited religion that is no more capable of being behind a single action than Christianity is. Nazism was both a specific party and a specific ideology, and was perfectly capable of having and carrying out plans that could be blamed on it.
A better example would be perhaps Islam fundies/extremists? (The equivalent of abortion clinic bombers, only on a much larger scale, considering the targets this time)
In Australia we have at least one airport and one airport location named after people who died in air crashes, Kingsford Smith in Sydney and Fairbairn in Canberra.
We also have a swimming pool named after a Prime Minister who drowned, Harold Holt.
Long live the great Australian art of taking the piss.
