I was making Cornish game hens the other night, and the thought occurred to me to do an entire meal of “miniature” foods and inviting some friends over for a dinner party. I’m having trouble thinking of things to serve, though. So far, I’ve thought of quail (mini chicken), brussel sprouts (mini cabbages), and fingerling potatoes (mini potatoes). Anyone have any other ideas? I’m sure there’s some cool stuff I haven’t thought of.
Baby carrots? Baby corn?
petit fours?
Vienna sausages
those little corn-on-the-cobs they put in Chinese food
Pippin apples
grape tomatoes and cherry tomatoes
Clementines
Small varieties of bananas
crayfish (as mini-lobsters)
those mini-cheese wheels
Coke comes in 6 oz cans as well as those single serving wine bottles. And don’t forget airline sized liquor bottles.
What a fun idea. Are you doing other giant themed things besides the menu?
Yeah, I think you need to get a kid’s play table to sit at with some kids’ chairs! Maybe juice glasses, baby utensils and bread plates for the tableware
Mini-muffins/ cupcakes.
If you want to give gift bags to your guests, I’d recommend making them from items at minimus.biz. All they sell is travel sized stuff.
Any way you could mock up a facade to go around all your thresholds, so that people have to duck when they enter rooms?
Try to get those small ketchup bottles they have in hotel mini-bars.
Lots of great ideas here! I especially like the baby corn, crawfish, and mini-muffins. I like the idea of getting a bunch of children’s furniture and silverware, but I can’t afford to do it for one party. I could serve on bread plates with shot glasses for drinks, though!
WOOKINAPUB, I found miniature playing cards and poker chips for sale online, so we could play mini-poker. Oh, I should try and find some tiny candle holders so we can have a bunch of birthday candles lit up. Score! Birthday cake candleabras!
Munch, I think mock facades are bit more effort than I’m willing to put in on this one. Plus, making everyone duck in and out of rooms might cross that line from “cute” to “annoying.”
Mini quiches. You can make them in a tiny muffin pan or buy frozen.
White Castle burgers.

Snozzcucumbers, of course.
