This is a long shot but I have seen folks come up with the correct answer to these kinds of questions from very little helpful information before, so what the heck.
Longtime NPR listeners may remember when Tom Shales used to do the movie reviews on Friday mornings. The thing about Tom Shales was that you could pretty much guarantee that he was going to hate whatever movie he was reviewing, but his reviews were so entertaining that whether or not he liked it was really beside the point.
Anyway, there is a line from one of his reviews that has always stuck with me. Unfortunately I can’t remember what the movie was that he was reviewing. He described the movie as being like “a Roadrunner cartoon written by the Bronte sisters.”
If it helps to narrow it down at all, his Wikipedia entry says that he did reviews on NPR between 1998 and 1999.
