About 20 years ago I saw an old movie on TV, concerning an old woman who was apparently on trial, or facing a hearing, for lunacy. Apparently she had been giving some of her money to people she considered needy, but those who had her brought to trial, perhaps her children seeking a big inheritance, decided she didn’t know what to do with her money (maybe they wanted it themselves–duhhh).
At the end, a reporter phoned the story in to his paper, telling his editor that the case had been dismissed.
The editor asked, “Why?”
"Why? repeated the reporter. “That’s the question that broke the case!”
Any Dopers know the title of this movie?
Was it this?
I don’t think so…it was in black and white, and …say, you know what? I watched it on my little black-and white set! That may just be it! Thanks! I’ll check it out in the New York Times review volumes…
