Can anyone identify the following? (It was sent around my office as part of a joke. I believe it to be a quote from something, but I’m not sure what).
"At a very early age, he understood that, as the Empire State Building and the subway were icons for up and down, so too were the Bronx and the Battery. Rather than being dwarfed by the size and diversity of the city, he was nurtured and empowered to develop an uncanny intuition for directions, dimensions, perspectives, and spatial relationships. Now, on this day of summer solstice, his remarkable talent transported him to the very tip-top of his native planet, from whence, standing tall, he could look south in every direction. Up above his shoulder, he could see the planet’s star, frozen for a cosmic pause at the apogee of its spiraling course, even as he had once seen the Cyclone seemingly motionless high above Coney Island. He traced the fiery helix the star had blazed on its ascent and would soon retrace on its descent to the horizon. His thoughts then turned to another vantage point, some 8,000 miles straight down and up and otherwise some 12,500 miles away in every direction, from which he might, some six months later, have a similar vision.
