IE 5 and search hijacked

Somehow in my browsing I came across an evil site, one of those evil places that changes your homepage, inserts lots of stuff in your bookmarks, and changes the screen that you go to when you can’t find the URL you typed. I’ve removed all of the other stuff, but I still go to this lousy hijack page when IE can’t find a URL.

How do I remove that? I can’t find any settings in IE and I think I’ve removed all the .dlls and .exe associatied with these stuff. One other place it shows up is in my list of toolbars. It’s turned off, but I’d like to remove it as well.

Can I do this without reinstalling IE? BTW, the site is Xupiter, they are evil, EVIL!

Slimeware. I hate them.

Xupiter helpfully has an uninstall page. That ought to do it.

Nope, you need Spybot.

Thanks for your help. I’ve done the uninstall, and that fixed up the redirect problem for bad URLs. The Xupiter toolbar flag still shows up on the pulldown, but doesn’t do anything. I’ll probably install Spybot after doing a little research.

Grrrr, Slimeware.
