IE5.5 to 6

Has anybody here upgraded from IE5.5 to IE6? If so, is it worth it? Are there any differences? I tried to find a screen shot but to no avail.

No real differences, but it’s a LOT less buggy than 5.5.

Looks almost exactly the same. Hate to be a nay-sayer, but I found that it crashes much, much more than 5.5 ever did on my WinMe machine. Just about every time I close IE 6, I get this stupid dialog saying “IE has encountered an error, and will be shut down” and it tries to send an error report to Microsoft.

Not that I’m saying you shouldn’t install it–this is a laptop that gets heavy use, so it’s got deeper problems than just IE.

I found both 5.5 and 6 to be rock solid under win2k. IE6 only offers marginal improvements. It has the ability to block cookies with more granularity, such as specifying websites to block and blocking cookies from being redirected to third parties. It also has an image toolbar to let you more easily email or save pictures. The toolbar pops up over a picture if you hold your mouse over it. IE 6 can also resize large pictures to fit in the current window. You can turn all of these features off. I’m sure it alos offers more stability and security than IE 5.5, but probably not much. I tend to upgrade just becuase I can.
