Maybe this has been covered. The search is way too slow right now. I have IE 5.00.3314.2101 and there is an IE 6 update. Anyone use this? Any problems? I think I updated to a newer Netscape last year & had to dump it right away. I use both browsers. Thanks for input!
My philosophy is to leave things alone if they are working right and that’s my advice to you. I have recently reinstalled Windose and all my software so I hve just installed IE6 and, for now, it is working fine. The one thing I like is the feature that fits pictures to the window and lets you expand them to real size. Other than that I have not noticed much difference and for that alone I would not have upgraded as you never know what may happen.
I also upgraded PGP from 5 to 7 and it was a disaster. It totally messed up all my network settings and I ended having to go back to V5.
My CD writer was not working before and it still ain’t working., No change there.
You almost have to keep up to date on all MS internet products, because they just barely keep releases ahead of the security exploits.
I’ve recently (today) dumped Netscape 6.2 for Mozilla 0.9.9, and so far am very, very happy with the results. (Not the least of which is that now my login cookie for here works properly.)

Unbeknownst to me, my daughter “upgraded” my system to IE6–and all of a sudden I couldn’t get to The Straight Dope! At all!!! Now if that ain’t Satanic, I dunno what is!
I uninstalled IE6 (which took me back to 5.5), and
<Monty Python>
I got better.

There aren’t too many new features in IE 6 unless you’re also using XP, so if you’re using previous Win versions, just go to IE 5.5.
I’ve been using IE6 for a few months now. I have had no problems as of yet but it’s hardly a leap and bound kind of upgrade. The best new features are the picture resizing (mentioned before) and built in cookie handling. While you CAN get more full featured cookie handlers seperately, the fact that there is something built in and fully functional is pretty good too.
