IE 6.0 - Anyone use this sucka? What's your take?

I think the subject says it all but essentially, I’m just wondering what people think of IE 6.0. It has some features I’d like to have, but if it crashes all the time and screws up everything, I’d prolly end up sticking w/ 5.5. I also hear there’s no built in uninstall so if I wanted to switch back to 5.5, I would have to do it manually and that would sucks.

I use 6.0, have for about a month. I’ve experienced 0 crashes as of yet, and I’m on the web a fair amount. The only thing I don’t like is how the browser will resize all pictures to eliminate scrollbars - not only is this bad for viewing porn, but it’s a hassle because it cuts down on the quality. I wonder if there’s a way I can turn this off…I haven’t really bothered looking.

Yes, you can turn that re-sizing thing off. You can also turn off that annoying toolbar that always appears if your cursor is on an image for more than half a second. It’s in the advanced part of the options, the big list with a lot of checkboxes.
The one thing I’ve noticed (another doper mentioned this somewhere) is that ads will randomly pop up. I know they aren’t from the site I’m at, because many times I don’t have IE6 open, and and ad will pop up, or one will pop up while I’m posting on the boards (which I KNOW don’t use pop-up ads.) All in all, though, it ain’t bad.

IE 5.5 used to crash on me at least once a night. IE 6 is much more stable and has so far only crashed once or twice in the couple of weeks I’ve used it.

I’ve been using it at home for a while, and no problems here. However, when we installed it at work, on computers that were also running this other particular software, it caused this problem. Easy to fix, you just uninstall IE6 via the add/remove programs control panel. It’s fun getting to the control panel, because explorer doesn’t load. (But that’s all detailed in the link.)

I’ve been using it ever since I got this computer (about a month or so ago). In the past I had 5.5 on windows 98 so I can’t quite speak to the reliability of it on that. What I can say is, Windows 2000 doesn’t crash, and IE 6, when it crashes, doesn’t bring all of windows down like an IE 5.5 crash in win 98.

The uninstall is like most anything else. Go to the control panel and to add remove software. its in there

Well, I’m using it now and it’s practically the same thing. Which is good I suppose.
