Some good suggestions. I didn’t want to make it about sex, but I’d like to see a woman host.
Will Ferrell, of course.
Meredith Vieira. Some game show experience (“Who Wants to be a Millionaire”), but she also has solid news credentials and talk show experience. She strikes me as a broadcast personality with a wide range of experience and who would take the hosting position as seriously as Alex Trebek.
If she weren’t 75 (and therefore likely excluded from consideration), I think Anne Robinson, who hosted the UK version of The Weakest Link, would make a good Jeopardy! host.
John Ratzenberger is almost as old as Alex Trebek. If Ratzenberger replaces Trebek, it’s probably not going to be for long.
Oh, and as a reminder, Trebek was about 44 years old when he began hosting Jeopardy!.
Wow. I love this idea.
An interim host might be a good idea, actually.
Ooo, great idea! I love him on Wait Wait - smart, funny and quick-witted, and never as condescending as Alex sometimes seem to be. He could do a great job on Jeopardy!
My suggestions already have been mentioned.
Trebek himself has endorsed Tom Bergeron (cite not available, but I probably could find it if I tried hard enough).
Andy Richter was the best celebrity Jeopardy! player ever.
Aisha Tyler is a great host, clever and quick. She would be my top vote.
I didn’t recognize Aisha Tyler’s name, but I guess she’s the host of Whose Line? You’re right; she would be good.
I’ve said in an another thread that I’d like to see Andy Richter replace Trebek. He needs a gig of his own, and he’d be great in this. He’s my top pick.
Anderson Cooper would be a great choice. I’d love him in this, but I don’t see him going the game-show route.
I’d watch Ken Jennings host. Some other suggestions in this thread are a bit much for Jeopardy. Don’t want the host overshadowing the program. There’s a fine line here - likeable with the proper demeanor and presence, but sans oversized personality or shtick.
I miss The Mole.
Alex Trebek is irreplaceable. They should implode the show.

I know that this isnt possible unless they buried Huell in the Pet Semetary, but Tennessee native Huell Howser would have been a brilliant Jeopardy host. Im not sure that he is known outside of California, but he had a perfect balance of humor, empathy and intelligence.
[/QUOTE]I left LA in 2010 and missed seeing that Huell had died. Sorry to hear that; I always enjoyed his show “California Gold” and I loved his voice. You have described him perfectly.
