If I ever get a cat

If I ever get a cat, I shall name it Demonspawn

Our cat is named ‘katie’ but I can’t get used to using a human name so I have dubbed her various names including ‘fluffington mcfluff the first’ and ‘cat’ and ‘fluff’.

but but…what about Bob?

My favorite name for a kitten I bottleraised was “Heathen Buzzbutt the Yowler”. The guy who adopted her calls her “Boo”.

Credit to my mum - one of her names for the juvenile cat, ‘little’ is one I often like to use myself. But that’s hardly surprising as me and me mum share some genes and character traits.

My cat’s named Sally. I always refer to her as Fuzzybutt. She promptly ignores me. Except when I have food, then she answers to anything.

One of the best names I heard for a cat was “Wumpy”. The cat who was blessed with this dignified name suited it to a tee; he kind of looked like a sack of flour that had been dented in a few places.

I have a cat at work named Lucas, after the Prince Of Darkness. I found her in the middle of a dirt road in Ezzell, TX on Christmas Day 2001, small enough to sit on my palm. We tried to get her to stay out in the pole barn with the other cats, but she kept following me out. She fended off two airedales and a border collie-type dog that day. She hates dogs (and isn’t afraid of them), and isn’t too fond of other cats, either. I was waiting to find out if it was a he or a she before naming her but a coworker beat me to it. Laziest damn cat I’ve ever seen but she had a rough start, she’s earned it.

I usually just call her Kitty, though. She doesn’t seem to mind.

My cat was naimed by my S.O. She named her “Miss-Miss”.
Before that she was “Hey Cat”. Dosen’t seem to make much difference the the cat.

I decided almost a year ago that, if I ever have a cat again, I’ll get two: a black one and a white one. The black one shall be named “Spook” and the white one shall be named “Cracker.”

(Though I might have to come up with fake names for the vet, and for when people visit, and for anyone who asks me their names…)

We’ve had several misnamed cats.

One cat we got as a kitten, and my sister named her Merlin because she was mostly black with white socks and a white dot at the end of her tail, like a magician’s wand. Her name eventually settled into Precious, though, and she lived to be 20 years old–by which time old age and senility had set in, and her name wasn’t really applicable anymore.

Another cat–who was born in a litter of ONE to a stray we had taken in–was named Pyewacket, after the familiar in “Bell, Book, and Candle,” which my mother had apparently just seen on TV and LOVED. He eventually got renamed to Dum-Dum. However, he was the smartest cat I have ever known–including being able to open closed doors.

My cat, properly known as the Lord Pixel Purrbody, also goes by: FurBeast, Fluff Monter, FuzzButt, and Fat Boy.

I have a Fat Boy, too! His real name is Mr. Spock, but when he hit 20+ pounds and started rolling over on his back for belly rubs…

The last cat I had came to me already named Little Bit, so we kept that. Took her to the vet to be spayed, and went and got her the next day. My ex approached the girl at the counter, and told her he was there to pick up the cat. She asked his last name, which is Moore. She then asked the cat’s name, which he told her. She turned around and called to the back "I need a “Little Bit Moore”. The guy stuck his head through the door and asked “A little bit more what??” It had never occured to us before then that she had a delightfully punny name.

My little brother moved out on his own this year, and the first thing he did was get a cat.

He named him “Torment”.

Mine are named Kero and Sebastian. Both female. “Sebastian” evolved from Bast over time. Kero is short for Keroberos, from Card Captor Sakura. Which in turn is a really wacky translation of Cerberus. We here in the Stasaeon household pronounce it with the dubious inbetween l/r sound, so it comes out sounding almost like “Kedo” or “Kelo” (but neither of those is quite right). It is never pronounced “Kee-ro”!

Torment is such a good name,

 Your cat was MAIMED by your S.O.?

Yeesh, such a scare you gave me.
