I love The Good Place, but I think that it’s probably far too snarky and odd for the OP’s tastes.
Yo!
It’s a spin-off and definitely not as in-your-face with the Christianity. The OP should love it.
Perhaps the Disneyfied episodes of “Walker, Texas Ranger”? That would be episode 6 of season 5, onward.
OTOH if a mild, more upbeat version of the X-Files is your cup of tea, you want Warehouse 13.
Episodes 3 & 4 (a two parter) of the same season should definitely be of interest.
If i could find it! There’s a few online indie shops that will copy to CDs. I’ll likely go that route, as i did with Twice in a Lifetime.
I’m checking out Good Witch previews.A IMDB user review had me at the first few words,“So sickeningly sweet I developed type 2 diabetes about 15mins in”
I have the Hallmark Channel (shock) and will try a few episodes on demand.
I also watched the second episode of Ghost Whisperer-- even better than the first. Ghost less scary. I still wish they’d stop beating around the bush and eliminate the intense first 15 min. Last part with the little boy ghost telling his dad to let go and saying i love you to his mom had me bawling. Maybe I’ll selectively watch future episodes, steering around anything dark or about investigating a murder.
Thank you; i tried parts of 2 episodes Season 6. Some endings seem touching but this is action through and through.
When i was really young (at Grandma’s?). Too goody too shoes.
Golden Girls, Facts of Life, Different Strokes are nostalgically comforting. I watch if it’s on but usually don’t seek it out. No catharsis the way you get from the fantasies/dramas. Even the 1st Season Love Boat gets me misty eyed in some episodes. More often than not, it’s comfort food in every sense of the previous poster’s note.
Raising hope i have been considering trying. It ticked off Canadian, some overlap of writers from Being Erica. Despite a nice fantasy element, it looks like it’s mainly doctor soap opera- which means cheating, blood, and depressing deaths and diseases.
Any think worth a try?
What??? Raising Hope was a fairly funny, lovable loser comedy. I think you’d like it, it has a lot of the simple likable characters that a lot of Canadian shows have. Maybe a little like Corner Gas style “characters”.
What a fantastic suggestion! I just watched the first 2 episodes. The first one with the boy who is miraculously pulled out of the ice, revealed to likely be by his dead father, complete with Amazing Grace threading through the episode. Wonderful. Second one also has a nice moral message about letting go, and a touching ending with Rae Dong Chong looking at photos of her late husband under the shooting stars. Thank you very big time. Too bad it’s only 2 seasons.
I’ve seen some of “Providence” but can’t really remember anything other than Mike Farrell playing a veterinarian. The main guy behind “Touched by an Angel” and “Providence” also created “Hawthorne”, which might be of interest.
Speaking of veterinarians, how about the old “All Creatures Great and Small”?
Not that there’s been a new one, mind.
How about [url=“Dead Like Me - Wikipedia”]Dead Like Me*?
Missed the edit window. Dead Like Me?
I suspect that, like “Pushing Daisies” (also by Bryan Fuller), the subject matter and tone might be too dark and macabre for the OP.
Glad you’re enjoying it.
If you don’t mind a Roaring Twenties Australian socialite helping solve a murder mystery every week: “Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries”.
