If I say the name Archie...

…which pop culture figures do you think of, and in what order?

Me: 1. Andrews, 2. Goodwin, 3. Bunker.

Bunker
Andrews

And that’s it. I’m rather embarrassed Archie Goodwin doesn’t come to mind but…eh.

  1. Archie Goodwin
  2. Don Marquis’s cockroach (actually ‘Archy’)
  3. Cary Grant (real name was Archie Leach)

My rather’s name was Arch, and a lot of folks called him Archie. But he wasn’t a “cultural figure.”

Well, actually “archy.”

For me, though, it would be Archie Andrews, then Bunker, then Goodwin.

For 'my rather" in my post above, please read ‘my father.’ Auggh. Need coffee.

Good catch. You’re right, of course. No uppercase letters in that literary world.

  1. Manning
  2. the comic book character

McPhee

I think of my cat.

Bzzzzzt! Not a pop culture figure.

I think of German anti-aircraft guns in World War I . . . But I’m weird, and I just got through researching WWI for a book . . .

Andrews, because before I ever had a Ken doll I had an Archie doll. I don’t think of the comic as much as I’d think of the doll.

Then Bunker.

Goodwin…er, I dunno who that is :frowning:

  1. Andrews.
  2. Bunker.
  3. Goodwin (but not the one you think)
  1. Archie Andrews
  2. The Archers of Loaf

Nero Wolfe’s sidekick.

Archie Bunker first by far.
Archie from Riverdale. I forgot his last name.

Where’s Archie Campbell? sob

Andrews first, then Bunker.

For one reason or other, something has reminded me of Archie Andrews several times over the last week.

  1. Andrews
  2. The Archies, of “Sugar, Sugar” fame (running in my head now, curse you.)
  3. Bunker
