Never heard it. We’ve always used “hang a u-ey” or “flip a u-ey.”
(Grew up & learned to drive in Colorado, lived in California and Montana since then)

Damn! I was sure it meant “pulled out a gat to lay a bitch out flat.”
We (back in NJ, USA) used “pull a u-ie” too. But that pales in comparison to “whip a shitty.” Now that is one nice phrase.
I would have thought it was akin to ‘pitching a hissy.’
I thought this had something to do with pimps “turning out” girls. As far as I know, it’s not a common expression in my neck of the woods.
Bri2k
“Chucking a u-ey” is the more common version here.
I’ve never heard the OP’s version.
P.S. - I’m loving ‘whippin’ a shitty.’ I am going to use it at the next available opportunity. Even if I don’t need to flip a bitch.
U-turn. I first heard in when I was in college in San Diego in the 80s.
ETA: Hang a U-ey was probably more common.
Grew up in Texas in a time long ago.
Flipping a bitch = illegal u-turn
Bitch Flip = a hairstyle involving turned up ends
As in ‘that hirsute bitch has got some wicked style.’
I knew it was a car-related term, but I wasn’t sure exactly what.
I thought “whipping shitties” was equal to “doing donuts”.
I’ve only heard “pulled a u-ey” or “made a u-ey”.
I would have guessed “flipped a bitch” to mean “had sex with a girl”.
Hangin’ a Uie is done politely while obeying the rules of the road.
Flippin’ a Bitch implies a sense of tire-squealing urgency, if we have to flip a bitch, shit just got real.
In a similar vein, is there a practical difference between doughnuts and brodies?
Do you want more people to keep posting saying “Never heard of it”? Maybe you should have made it a poll.
I don’t hear it too often in Arizona, but I do use it occasionally. Never knew it implied an illegal u-turn and when I use it I use it to refer to a u-turn of any kind.
Probably. Too late now, though.
And what more people? I see a lot of people knowing what it is, too. : p
By my count:
People who had never heard of it before: 18
People who knew what it referred to in some way or another: 11
My daughter and her friends (2001 WA state high school grads) all say ‘flip a bitch’ for this activity (whether legal or illegal). I, of course, use the correct term of ‘hanging a u-ey’.
My daughter used to live in Federal Way (WA), where there are lots of legal u-turns. Directions from her were so colorful: get on street X then flip a bitch, go down street to next intersection and turn right, then flip a bitch at the next light, etc.
I have never heard this term used in reference to driving.
I would have assumed you meant that you (perhaps acting with the aid of other members of your gang) turned a weaker prisoner in your cell block into your “woman.”
I had never heard it before reading this thread. I guessed it was something along the lines of, but slightly less offensive than, flipping someone the bird.
Never heard it.
