I had forgotten about that, and it’s an interesting limitation. Honestly, I didn’t think Trump would pick DeSantis anyway. He’s too insecure to allow anyone who might upstage him to be his VP. I was just pointing out that it would be a smart move if he did it. He won’t.
If Trump plans to re-litigate the 2020 election, he might pick Kari Lake. That would be a bad move on both fronts. But Trump is Trump.
The same state restriction on running mates could easily be fixed if either one changes his state of residence. Cheney changed his residence to Wyoming so that he could run with George W Bush.
I sincerely doubt that DeSantis would be offered the VP spot. He’s going to have to attack DJT at some point if he wants to win the nomination, and Donnie could never forgive that. On top of that, I don’t think DeSantis’ ego would permit him to accept the number two slot.
