Last movie in a theater: I think that would be The Rise of Skywalker.
Last stage show: Haven’t been to as many of those lately as usual. The most recent I can think of would be Henry V, by the Cleveland Shakespeare Festival, last summer.
Last concert: The Citymusic Orchestra, sometime this past winter, don’t remember exactly when.
Last theater was Tristan und Isolde at the Berlin Opera in mid-December. It was…goooooood.
Cancellation: I wanted to go to Der fliegende Hollander here at the Metropolitan Opera in mid-March, but most of the performances got killed. Luckily, I had not bought a ticket in advance, because I would have felt guilty about asking for my money back — the Met is not doing well financially.
Yeah, yeah, I’m a Perfect Wagnerite, as Bernard Shaw would have said.
Last concert was Kesha in Las Vegas in November 2019.
First cancellation is Kesha, who was scheduled to perform in Chicago two weeks from now. The good news is that she’s staying safe by cancelling her tour.
I honestly don’t recall the last movie I saw in a theater, and even longer ago than that was the last concert I attended. We did go to see Paula Poundstone 3 or 4 years ago in Annapolis - does that count?
Last concert was a friend’s band at a little club.
Last theatre event: I was helping the local high school by designing and building the set for their spring musical. We had just finished building the set when the lock-down was instituted. The set is still there on stage, it just will never be used.
The two reasons I just retired were to travel, and to take advantage of $5 Tuesdays at our theaters. So, last movies… oh, two good ones! 1917 and Parasite.
Last live performance? Livingston Taylor (little brother of James), who now teaches at Berklee School of Music. Told stories and sang and taught us stuff (including Songs That Never Should Be Played On the Banjo).
Last live event: David Byrne’s American Utopia on Broadway
First cancelled event: Book of Mormon on Broadway - I’ve seen it three times before so no big deal. I was taking a friend. Still waiting for a refund from Ticketmaster though.
Next probably cancelled or postponed (TBA) event: Hall & Oates with Squeeze at Summerfest
Next probably cancelled event: The Music Man on Broadway in November
Next probably cancelled event: David Byrne’s American Utopia on Broadway in November
I haven’t been in a movie theater since 2000
Last play was the National Theater production of Cyrano de Bergerac starring James McAvoy. It was a recorded and shown at a local Angelica Theater. Must have been early February.
We had tickets to the play Plaza Suite, in NYC, with Sarah Jessica Parker & Matthew Broderick. It was cancelled. Really bummed because we were going to stay at The Plaza for the complete theater experience.
First cancelled event: SUMMER: The Donna Summer Musical. It was part of our subscription and I wasn’t too enthusiastic about going.
Last live event: Frost/Nixon at the Schenectady Civic Player. Excellent play.
My last live event was when I went to a small local mystery theatre with tea last fall. One of my friends and I won raffle prizes–tickets to an upcoming event of our choice. We were planning to attend another mystery-tea on March 22; we were actually talking about it and making our plans the week before… and then everything shut down here on the 13th.
This was my last theatre event. I saw this in London in January. McAvoy was amazing. (He recently donated £300,000 to the NHS by the way.) I have tickets for Sorkin’s To Kill A Mockingbird n London in August, but it hasn’t been cancelled yet.
Last movie: Emma on March 6.
Last live performance: Kesha at Ravinia on Sep. 8, 2019*
First cancellation: 42nd Street at the Lyric Opera, scheduled for May 30. They exchanged my tickets for Singin’ in the Rain in June 2021.
*Ponch8: Kesha was cursing up a storm, with seemingly every other word she spoke between songs being the F-bomb. I wasn’t offended, nor were most of the paying audience, but Ravinia is an outdoor venue with houses very nearby and I wondered at the time how the neighbors reacted.
Last local stage production: Waitress in Lincoln
Last live theater spectacles: Love and One (we were in Las Vegas the last week of February)
Last Broadway show: David Byrne’s American Utopia
Last in-theater movie: 1917
First cancelled show: Dear Even Hansen (Touring)
