This is a bothersome issue, because the entire Texas/Mexico border is the Rio. The general rule of fences is that you build it on your own property, which means the Wall would end up between the Texans and the Rio. Apart from the Wall itself being a stunningly offensive concept, blocking off the Rio from Texas sounds like the pinnacle of stupid.
True…in particular, I see lots of tomatoes and cucumbers in the store that originated in Mexico. Once real tomato season gets here, of course, the place will be flooded with local produce.
And while he loves fast food, Trump apparently doesn’t drink alcohol, which explains why he doesn’t give a rat’s ass about our tequila supply. (There are American-made agave spirits, but they can’t be called tequila for legal reasons.)

On a serious note, a rising Mexico is good for the US. The more happy, healthy and wealthy the country becomes, the better it is for us north of the border. I don’t think our new leader understands this. “AMERICA FIRST” doesn’t have to mean we have to take a dump on every one else.

That’s the real moron tragedy here. Enriching Mexico’s economy and allowing them to have productive, well paying (by Mexican standards) jobs and what-not is the A#1, most sure-fire way to decrease illegal immigration.
People aren’t illegally immigrating here because they so desperately want to become Americans; they’re coming north because the economic conditions are so poor in Mexico and Central America that making a dangerous migration north, working shit jobs and sending money home is the best option they can think of.
I mean think about it… how bad are things if people are willing to leave their families and move somewhere else and do stuff like mow yards in the Texas heat, or work in a meat-packing plant, or harvest lettuce for 18 hours a day on their knees? And all that, to live in a one room apartment with a dozen other guys and send most of their money home? I’m sure it sucks, and I’m sure those folks desperately wish they could work at home in their communities and not have to try and fly under the radar here.
And it’s not like they’re displacing a bunch of hardworking American fruit-pickers and meat-packers and yard people (well maybe some teenagers, possibly), but rather are filling low-paid jobs that native born people typically won’t do for those wages. And if they were removed, the wages would have to go up, and so would prices, and everything that comes with that in a vicious circle.
It’s like the Trump camp is listening to ignorant fools when it comes to foreign policy and stuff like this.

My fine Libertarian friend says that these are the people we should want in our country. People who risk their lives and would work hard to make a living. That’s what we need more of!
Frankly, I think deep down that’s why so many pasty-white numbskulls are so worked up about getting rid of them. It’s because they know deep down in their addled skulls that these hard working immigrants would kick their lazy asses in a fair fight.
