I’d bet YES on Pence doing his job on January 6th. Not certain, but I think that’s more likely than not.

I have a hard time believing Trump will have his own ceremony. He might want to have one but he’ll be talked out of it. No way does SCOTUS have anything to do with it. I can easily believe he’ll have a rally. He’ll probably charge for tickets.
He’d be following in the shoes of Napoleon Bonaparte, who crowned himself Emperor. The Pope was supposed to, but Bonaparte took the crown from the Pope’s hands and did it himself.
I think you’re right, but I sure would be entertained by the idea of Pence outright lying, and then subsequently hearing incoherent grunting and shrieking out of Dianne Feinstein or Bill Nelson and one of them charging the podium and choking the shit out of Pence. It’s not like fights in the Senate are unprecedented or anything. Hell, beating one another with fire tongs and canes is not unprecedented.
I think he absolutely will have a rally where he takes some sort of oath to keep fighting for his rightful place. At noon.

Remember that the most important thing for him that day will be to take as much attention away from Biden as he possibly can. The more outrageous he acts, the better chance of that happening. Hopefully, most news outlets will only mention it as a sideshow but I’m sure OAN and Newsmax will focus mostly on his antics.

Yeah, that’s my guess too: another rally-the-rowdies event in DC which won’t go so well for them because January 6 is just another Wednesday in the city, so it’s unlikely that they can get a permit to use the streets for any sort of demonstration. The DC cops might actually have to stop treating right-wing protesters with kid gloves.
I’d guess Ivanka and Jared, bolstered by others. We like to pretend that Trump never listens to others but he obviously does, even if it’s rare, like backing out of his COVID bill veto.
BTW Rep. Louis Gomert (Wack-TX) and Kelli Ward, Chair of the AZ GOP, just sued Pence to try and make him do exactly that (technically to have the court order him to disregard the Electoral College law and act with absolute power)…
Ivanka and Jared adamantly pushed for him to exclude Chris Cristie from his administration. I think he was set to pick Cristie for VP or another high job if those two had not persisted. It was rumored at the time they told him they would not help him if he picked Chris Cristie.
