I was reading 3 USC 15 and it seems pretty straightforward. Any alternate slate would need to be certified by the state governor. I suppose an issue could have been raised in 2016 throwing out Colorado’s EVs since the Secy of State used an ambiguous law to remove an elector that voted incorrectly** since certifications of electors must be done under the state law in effect at the time. I don’t think either of those cases apply in this election. There are no alternate certified slates and no contraversy over replacing electors.
** I have a thread on this and why I think the law may not have permitted the elector to be removed. Yes, it was upheld much later by SCOTUS but on January 6, 2017 it was still an open legal question that Congress could have ruled on at the time.
Looks like those of you claiming he wouldn’t show up today were wrong.

At a minimum, I’d expect it for the six “battleground” states (Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin). At the extreme end, the Trumpy Republicans could challenge ever state that Biden carried. But, ultimately, we won’t know until it happens.

It should be noted that this has happened before a few times as a political statement in previous elections. Anyone remember Maxine Waters crazy-ass objection to Florida’s EVs for Bush? The real question is will this be a simple statement like before or are the Pubs going full out and try to get those votes from all those states thrown out?

I’m still ll thinking there is a good that once the Trump stench is burned out of the White House, the Hoi Polloi lemmings of the republican party will start to turn on him, growing into a personality cult for someone else, and being a certified Trumper will be an Albatross by next election cycle, as the reality of him costing them everything sets in.

I am watching right now as Trump’s Insurrectionists have broken through the barriers and past the police, and are entering the Capitol. There are injuries and reportedly blood on the steps of the Capitol. Trump openly called for this great betrayal of the Democratic process, and he should get full blame for what is currently happening.
I don’t get it. Peaceful protests get attacked by the police while violent, threatening ones get handled with kid gloves.
