Sorry if this has been done before, but search showed nothing.
But just how bad would have the LOTRs sucked if he had played Aragorn? I just cant see that whiny bitch playing him, so I must be eternally grateful that he stepped down.
Its fun to imagine Gandolf played by Patrick Stewart though. “Number One, you shall not let him pass!” and especially after watching the X-Men. “Gandalf, why do we have to wear these yellow tights?” But Ian McKellan completely owns that role now.
Any other roles you are grateful the original actor declined?
Actors you wished had been cast in a role?
And what if Hugh Jackman had played Aragorn?
AP
I think Hugh Jackman would have played a fine Aragorn, but I expect he would have played a very *different *Aragorn, in fact probably closer to the one I imagined while reading the books. Gruffer, a little surlier. Mortensen played him a little quieter, gentler, more androgynous than the Aragorn in my mind. I remember in the book being surprised when Strider was revealed to be noble - there’s no way Mortensen would have fooled anyone, he was regal from the first frame.
Townsend, while I like him a lot, is way too young for Aragorn. Chronologically and energetically. He’d have made a great elf, but he’d be too manic and “up” as Aragorn. Even when he’s broody, he’s energized.
Sorry to hijack, but I heard from a coworker that Glen Danzig, former vocalist of the Misfits, was the first pick to play Wolverine. Has anybody else heard this rumor, and if so is there any truth to it?
I don’t know if he was ever officially attached to the movie in any way, but I’d heard Danzig bruited about as the ideal actor to play Wolverine for at least a decade before the first film was made.
