OK, I read mention of Viggo Mortensen in a thread, and it reaffirms my already well established understanding that dirty and unshaven, he is hot beyond reason, but less so, clean and in a business suit.
He also had something Peter Jackson found lacking in the first choice for the role. Pete says “He was much too young, and lacked that something that a legendary king needed.”
So, and this is directed to all, without regard to gender, or gender preference, Who can you think of that meets the criteria of the mystery actor?
“Oh, he’s hot, but if he’s on his way to Mordor, I’ll hook up with him when he gets back.”
"Yeah, the guy can obviously kick some ass, but, the “Paths of the Dead?” I’ll pass.
“I think he’s fabulous. But that whole King of the world thing, you know?”
Who was it? Who might it have been? (OK, actually, I don’t care who it was, I’m just looking for the flavor.)

Are you asking who the first choice for Aragorn was? Because that was Stuart Townsend, who pretty much lacks everything as far as I’m concerned. I didn’t think that was a mystery at all.
Or are you asking who might have been other possible choices?
I agree with the OP that Viggo is, ahem, more than a little appealing as Aragorn, long-haired, unshaven, dirty, sweaty and all. Cleaned up, he just doesn’t have the same effect on me. Weird, too, since I’ve never found long-haired men attractive.
