If teachers are allowed to carry, will it be open carry?

Just curious. Is the proposal that teachers should be able to open carry? Handguns only, or also long-guns?

I’m genuinely interested in what the proposals are.

Depending on the laws of the particular state, it could also be concealed carry. 50 different states, 50 different sets of laws.

I haven’t heard of anyone proposing open carry. It’s pretty much all concealed carry for teachers, and they’ll pretty much all have handguns. For one example though, Utah’s laws don’t explicitly require it to be a handgun, but despite an estimate of several thousands of teachers with CFPs, I’ve never heard of a single one bringing a long gun to school.

I can’t imagine any (I guess I should change that to “many”) would do open carry. I don’t really have a problem with people openly carring in public, but even I think it would be distracting and not really appropriate in school.

I suspect more than a few wouldn’t really carry a gun on their body while in their own classroom, but would use a secure handgun safe, perhaps in a desk drawer. I have a handgun safe under my bed, and it can be opened in a couple of seconds. There are versions that use finger codes or even fingerprints to open.
