Maybe. Or maybe he has believed for a while that he could arrest the plummet of his Tesla stock price by means of a Drama: Elon Defies Donald; Elon Realizes Donald IS the Dear Leader (After All).
Not that I don’t think Elon was impaired during the Drama. He was definitely abusing something (likely the ketamine, but with him, who knows?)
He wanted a way of changing the “Elon sleeps at the White House/Elon is Donald’s right hand” narrative, that wouldn’t be dull. No simple “Elon walks away” would do. Also, I think he is genuinely pissed that Donald’s bill doesn’t mandate EVs, and that Donald snubbed Elon’s choice for NASA. Elon’s pride required that he do something Dramatic to in response to those insults from Donald.
To sum up: I think the Drama was partly fake (because Elon never said anything genuinely unforgiveable*) and partly real (for the reasons given in the previous paragraph).

I don’t think this is quite right. Donald enlisted the help of quite a few people in addition to Elon during his campaign. If he were truly at the level of mental disturbance that would require he become President with NO help at all, he wouldn’t have enlisted those supporters to appear with him, etc.
That said, he certainly is mentally disturbed. Just not in a way that would require him to campaign all by himself (out of a belief that He Is Enough).
Just call it confiscation of suspected drug assets.
Besides, he’s a furriner. He might even be illegal. It’s okay to take their shit.
Maybe slept with a girlfriend, depending on how much I liked her and other factors.

Better yet, say that the reason why Musk bought Twitter in the first place was so that he could own the world’s biggest archive of child porn and the world’s biggest network of people who produce it. So that means we’ve got to seize every electronic thing he has ever touched and all of his money (which is obviously all profit from the illegal stuff). If Trump said something like this I’d almost believe it and if anyone other than Trump said it, I’d fully believe it.
It was dumb of Elon to brag that he’d be around for forty years. They might not be good years.

On the ‘Musk may create a third party’ story: there’s speculation that he may base it on the uproar over the Epstein files. Much of MAGA is freaking out over the Trump Justice Department’s failure to make public what Donald promised to make public back when he was campaigning.
Imagine Donald’s surprise when his fans actually expect him to do something he promised…but in any case, Elon sees an opportunity here.
Siphoning off votes from the conspiracy-theory-focused crowd can only harm Republicans (who count on a lot of votes from those people) and help Democrats (who do not).
Sounds good to me…
