At least in Atlanta everybody goes too fast. That’s a lot easier to deal with in some ways. Except for the Road to Hell, 285. Too damn many trucks. That freeway scares me! (I’ve driven there a bunch of times, since I used to live in Augusta.) Here they go too fast, too slow, all over the fucking road wherever they feel like even if your car is in the way…I’d be willing to swear that every single time I drive anywhere here, I’m in a near-accident, and it’s invariably the other driver’s fault.

On a stretch of I-35 far north of Texas–Des Moines, Iowa, to be exact–there are many closely-spaced exits and signs reading “Through traffic Keep Left”. Drive 5-to-10 mph over the limit while heading straight through town and nearly everyone behind you will flash headlights and point to the right.
I, not having the magic native license plate that apparently serves as a talisman against speeding tickets for those travelling 10+ mph past the limit in Iowa, just point to the “Through Traffic” signs and stay my course.
Of course, the worst drivers in that part of Iowa aren’t natives at all, but Minnesotans who think that Des Moines is supposed to be, at most, a 15-minute drive from the Twin Cities, and thus pass on the shoulder to get around people travelling the speed limit in the RIGHT lane. Interestingly enough, although these people are in such a hurry, they generally have time to slam on their brakes once they get in front of you and to creep along a couple tenths of a mile at 40 while weaving back and forth to prevent your passing them. They then resume at warp speed until they reach home or their next victim; whichever comes first.
The assumption I made about your driving as no worse than the one you made about the OP’s driving.
