If you could be instantly qualified for any job...

Female, 40, Continuity expert for books, film etc. Drives me crazy to see inconsistencies and contradictions, and I’d love to help prevent them.

Male, 30. I’d really like to be a deep sea biologist. It would be great to sail around on a mobile lab and explore the abyssal zone.

Male, 50 - World-class genius+, unbelievably adept at acquiring knowledge of and performing research in any field of study whatsoever, leading to practical and workable solutions and inventions that will alleviate or outright solve the problems plaguing this world, to include better sources of energy, medical advances across the board, social enlightenment to include eradication of racism and ethnic enmity, education programs that encompass the best of ALL cultures, bountiful food production that balances with Nature while ending world hunger, base standard of living world-wide that provides every person in the world with all of their needs, and viable travel to the stars coupled with successful colonization.

Dream big or stay home. And Reed Richards is a slacker.

Failing that, I’d like to be a successful writer, capable of writing non-fiction on any subject as well as fiction in any genre, with a level of ability that makes writing fun and satisfying while still requiring some effort on my part yet never gets boring or frustrating, and a state of financial comfort that allows me to write because I want to, not because I have to put food on the table.

Female, 19. Programmer. Either that or travel writer.

Good grief. I read this as “Libertarian or Optimist”

I would have to give this some thought. I’m basically lazy so I’m not sure I would want to be a doctor or surgeon. They make a lot of money but they also work long hours. Most of the things that I do for fun like reading or gardening, I wouldn’t want to do for a living.

ETA: 52 female

35 y/o female - surgeon or anesthetist. Anestethist. Anttheiatatists. Oh, hell, the guy that puts you to sleep.

I’m on a “second career” right now about to enter my last semester of nursing school and I’m thinking of getting a master’s so we will see later. I’m too old for med school at this point but CRNA is looking better and better!

Female, 35, actress

Male, 70, Mathematician.

23 Male
Explorer

Wanted to be a Topdresser (Cropduster) Pilot when i was small.

Male, 42. Stand-up comedian, but the quiet sort.

Female, forties, would like to be instant real estate appraiser.

Female -37- high-powered casting agent in Hollywood.

Female, 40.

Ballerina or pairs figure skater.

I’d write published author but I am quite qualified for that position. I hope to have my completed book book proposal in front of publishers by early next year.

Male, 36.

I always wanted to be a fighter pilot, preferably in WWII but I’d take the modern era. On equal footing, and a more recent desire, I’d really like to be a successful professional motorcycle racer ala Valentino Rossi.

Male, 32, high school teacher.

I know it is not what a lot of people would call a dream job, but it is for me.

I’m not quite sure how to parse the OP. Is it “what job would you like to have, if you had the talent and training and could magically get the job?” In that case, famous and successful actress, cross-over stage and screen, thank you.

Or is it, as read literally, what would you like to be magically *qualified *to do, but the actual getting and keeping of that job is just as difficult as it is in reality? In that case, can we just wave your magic wand and zoom my knowledge and skills forward 10 years so I’m a *good *nurse, and I don’t have to take the NCLEX when I graduate nursing school in 5 months? Thanks!

See now, that’s my dream job, but not what I’m picking here - being qualified doesn’t equal being employed, as my many unemployed stage school grad friends so could testify, so I’m going for:

Criminal barrister. A career path I briefly toyed with when I was younger, but was put off by the amount of work (and money) it takes to qualify. Now though, having met a couple, and even better having seen some in action when I did jury service at the Old Bailey, I’m convinced it’s a job I would enjoy. I suspect I might have been good at it, too - I certainly seemed to pick up on the key details better than my fellow jurors, and to have a much clearer understanding of the arguments and counter-arguments.

Plus you’ve better chance of a decent income than you have as an actress! Maybe in my next life…

ETA: Female, 32!

:smack: forgot the age, gender request. 36, Female.

Male, 70: Winner of enormous lottery. If I had to work, crystal engineer.

Female, 30. I’m gonna go with zoo/wild animal vet.
