If you could be instantly qualified for any job...

Female, 31.

Surprisingly, Nava’s answer* almost exactly* is what I’m going to be working on. :stuck_out_tongue: It would be super-nice not to have to spend the next six or so years in college if only because A) I’ll be near forty before I get started in my career and B) I’m going to have to spend ridiculous money to get there.

That or self-supporting fiction writer.

Space elevator inventor. 40, Male.

Male 24: I’d love to be a doctor, then a fighter pilot, then a lawyer, then get knighted in England.

Then I’d be Sir Dr. Fighter Pilot, ESQ.

But in all seriousness, I’d love to be a pediatrician. But yeah, I’m not nearly smart enough to even read about the job let alone trying for it.

Graduate from the RAF’s Empire test pilot school. Then you could be Sir Dr. Fighter Pilot, TP, ESQ.

I would love to be a theoretical physicist. That just sounds sexy. Female, 40.

Female, 42, Major League baseball player.

Male, 25 - Trauma Surgeon
I’m a paramedic/firefighter right now, but the “good” calls are so few and far between. It’d be amazing to always work with critical patients, and to just be able to really get my hands messy and fix some crazy injuries.
If only I didn’t have to take all those damn CLASSES first…

Female, 42, equine or exotics vet.

Male, 35. Dual sport professional athlete: Major League baseball player and PBA National tour bowler.

No, I’m not kidding. I’ve still got little boy dreams. Sue me.

Male, 49: (double hat) I’d want RN and Paramedic, so I could to critical patient transport.

I can’t decide (what else is new). In no particular order:

Fighter pilot
Astronaut
Trauma surgeon
Opera singer
First violin for the London Symphony
An International Woman of Mystery

I’m female, 57.

Male, 52.

Scarlett Johanson’s Boy Toy pianist fiddler cheese maker cabinet maker assassin

BTW, this is ONE job.

Just having the rep/business chops/influence to pull off my dream company “World Rescue” I have mentioned in other threads. (Basically a rapid deployment airmobile heavy rescue team that could fly into areas like day after Katrina New Orleans and set up rescue, logistical, medical, security, and communications support for tens of thousands of refugees within say 48 hours)

Barring that, God level programmer specializing in iPhone/Droid applications.

That would be so wonderfully cool. I’d gladly donate $$ to your organization.

Basic level donations start at $1,000,000

C-130’s don’t buy themselves

I opened up to this, thinking it was the “How do you want to die?” thread…

Female, 37, college professor. Sadly, I’m ABD with half a dissertation written. I just don’t wanna deal with it anymore!!!

Or astronaut. Whatever.

Male, 35. Stock Trader. Seriously. I touch a stock and it will nosedive within a few days. I bought part of a tech stock mutual fund the day before the .com implosion.

I’m a little younger than you are, but I still get all starry-eyed about the space program and NASA. I’m currently trying to figure out if I can squeeze in a trip to Florida this spring to see a launch of the Shuttle before the discontinue them.

So

  1. Not an astronaut, but one of the engineers and designers for the space program.
  2. Archeologist

43, male - Polyglot language translator.
