Of course (and in tribute to Iain Banks) my answer should probably be ‘A General Systems Vehicle’ (tens of miles long, unbelievably powerful spaceship run by benign and godlike AI Minds) but I have to admit I still have a soft-spot for the Mig-31 Firefox from the book and movie of the same name.
Mach-5+ capable, radar invisible, thought-controlled, Soviet superfighter. 30 years on and it still looks futuristic and sinister.
Of course, if I had a GSV it would probably make me one if I asked!
The flying motorcycle from MegaForce
The hoverboard from Back to the Future II
The landspeeder from Star Wars (I need to be able to still pick up groceries)
The space Winnebago from SpaceBalls
Well it would probably amuse the Mind to let me think I owned it!
Damn, yes, good point, that’ll teach me to skim read…although I’m going to stretch the definition and say there was a short (and pretty good) youtube fan movie set on one and so my choice is still valid.
Opened this thread to nominate the Millennium Falcon. After all, the Falson made the Kessel Run in “less than twelve parsecs.” But that line has always bugged the hell out of me because everyone knows—or should know by now—that it’s completely wrong! Lucas should be ashamed of himself. It should be, “The Falcon made the Kessel Run in fewer than twelve parsecs!” Sheesh!
But, after reading the thread… Yeah, the TARDIS. Knock about space/time and cruise [del]hot chicks[/del]companions.
