Same. Although occasionally they throw in some specific reference to a person or company I’ve never heard of. The crossword yesterday was full of those.
Yep, I had to look it up. Didn’t really help, as the purple category was the last one I got, basically by default.
I resisted looking it up until finishing the game, though I suspected the scales angle. I saved that category for last, and I was right!
I know the word you’re talking about. I know it well, but was at a loss at how it fit in with three others. Didn’t matter, as I was left the purples last, so I completed the puzzle. I still try to figure out the connection, but after a minute or two I gave up.
things related to scales
Oh, I mean it tells you what the connection is after you enter the last (and only possible) answer. Also, it’s in the post right above mine.
I still remember how I learned that word. Something reminded me of Ernie Kovacs, an innovative comedian from the golden age of television. One recurring bit on his show was The Nairobi Trio, three people in gorilla costumes miming to a rather simple but catchy tune. Looking it up, the tune turned out to be Solfeggio, by Robert Maxwell. That led me to “solfege”.
We haven’t done this in a while but today’s top row reads PARK CAR HARVARD YARD.
I did see that, and it made me smile.
Very good puzzle today, the 23rd.
Just came here to say something similar. It was very cute.
Although I wanted GOBLIN and JACKET to switch categories.
I see I’m not the first to encounter and notice this little bit of tomfoolery. Very cute.
I didn’t actually notice until I solved the whole puzzle that each group was the same color as its connection.
I see there’s a Connections archive now. Was that there before today?
Not today, but it started within the last week or so.
Today’s “theme” top row; FRESH PRINCE BEL AIR.
I only just started today’s puzzle (10/30/24), but I came in to say I LOVED today’s blue solution.
Are you a day ahead or did you mean the puzzle of October 29, 2024?
I suspect they mean today’s (the 29th). I always hit shuffle before I start so I wasn’t sure if that one was an answer or a first line Easter egg but I took a shot and guessed it (I think that is vague enough to not be a spoiler).
