Aside from the pronunciation thing, I’d never even heard of an Infiniti so I had no chance.

Of course I fell for the obvious red herring.
Probably should have gotten purple but didn’t. My sister-in-law has a Mini Cooper that she’s named “MINNIE.” And I even looked at INFINITY and thought of car brands, but then thought, “no, it’s spelled differently.” 
But even though I’ll admit to pronouncing OUTIE and AUDI very similarly, seeing it in print did not trigger “hearing” the word in my head. And it’s been a good half a century since I’ve seen or thought about an OPEL.

I was surprised that there was no word play in purple, which i thought might be yellow or green when i first saw it.
It took me a moment to see green, because i was distracted by a red herring (point, ruler, compass) and wasn’t thinking of the directional compass but the circle-drawing one.
I did not expect Purple to be purple. I guessed the final word of the four before I even saw it in the grid.

Avoided the red herring by seeing Purple first, otherwise was fairly straightforward, even the regional American one.

This one certainly included some regional American clues. 
I liked this one. They all seemed reasonable
I decided I’d get Wednesday’s red herring out of the way first, only to discover that it was actually yellow. Got a clean rainbow.
Same. 
(except the clean rainbow. I always answer in the order i see them.)
So do I. It’s just that, in this case, that order was the rainbow.
I thought today’s Green should have been Purple. I got Purple second, after Yellow.
All in all, however, pretty easy.

Same here. Except that certain clue types are almost always purple despite difficulty and this purple was one of them. But I still wouldn’t have gotten my RR because I’m from Philly and those clues just jumped out of me so I thought they were green.
