Not only no, but Hell No. I thought Yellow and Green were rather easy, but Blue took me a bit. Even after I solved Blue, I still had no clue as to the commonality of the Purple answers.
Nope. Got the other three without any errors but I had no idea what the last category was. I did look for anagrams but not anagrams of names.
I didnt think of anagrams as a possibility
I woulld also quibble with character as falling under “public standing” even though I got that one
I knew that
Summary
EGADS had to be an anagram and YOGA was right next to it and somehow the artist’s names became clear to me. It took me a bit to find the next two.
That was the one with the artists, right? Yeah, I got it as my third solution (green was first, yellow was second). But I did legitimately solve it, not just mentally saved the blue for last.
Must admit that I totally went for the Poe-themed red herring yesterday. Ah well.
And today I only got the last category by elimination. I had no idea who Sue Bird is (although I now do).
Well, I knew three of the four in the blue category today.
I luckily guessed demi. And I had to search on its meaning after I completed the puzzle.
I almost went there, but then saw the NFL team names and needed Raven for a fourth, which broke up the Poe set. But I’ve been tripped up a few times lately by the red herring category.
Minor nitpick on today’s puzzle: Payday is a candy bar, but not a chocolate bar.
That’s hardly minor. It’s completely incorrect but it still works as a category and it was the first one I got
The reveal described them as candy bars, not chocolate bars. What’s your gripe?
Well, I guess my gripe is that they changed it to make me look like an idiot. It’s not unprecedented for them to tweak a category after getting some early feedback.
@hajario, can you confirm, did you see “chocolate” earlier today?
I definitely did. I didn’t notice it at the time but I looked back on it after reading your post.
I as well. Didn’t even catch that one of them wasn’t actually chocolate.
Maybe that explains why the puzzle wasn’t available when I first tried to play it this morning around 6:15 or 6:30 PST.
Today’s puzzle sucked for me. I call BS on the purple one. One the answers for the blue one I still don’t understand even after seeing the solution. And I apparently Mandela Effected myself into thinking a certain thing is not the color I was sure it was.
Agreed. I got the blue and appropriately-named-yellow categories right away, but then struck out. The purple category was a stretch, and I had no idea that calculus was a form of dental plaque.
I got today’s quickly (like one minute, perfect) in the order of blue, purple, green, yellow. That said, the purple one I had other reasons for grouping than theirs. I just thought it had to do with words that weren’t really pronounced how they were spelled. Worcestershire, colonel, and Wednesday were easy for me; the only other one that really fit was “Pharaoh” with that “ao” combination. The category reason they gave was a stretch, I agree. For the blue category, I knew “calculus” from somewhere. Can’t remember exactly where I learned it, but it was in my memory banks, which is why I got it first.
No trouble for me today, but it didn’t include rappers or modified names of athletic teams.
Today’s was the easiest one for me since I started paying this game a month ago. For whatever reason it just flowed.
I did get one wrong guess though because lemon, tartar, mustard and worcestershire seemed to go together
Same here. I thought they had a sauce theme going. And yes, sometimes, I get it right away. Sometimes not.
