I had pain instead of slip for the Freud category. However, I did actually get blue before revealing it this time.
The fuck… another you had to be American to get the stupid purple unless it was all that was left.
I mean, I saw it before I clicked, but still…
My second guess there was “things you need to take in an emergency”, BTW. “freshwater, ID, mobile, shirt”

Four for four - yellow, green, purple, blue. And rather pleased with myself for getting both green and purple. Definitely a tricky one.
I got Yellow only. The rest were impossible for me, they were far too American or weird.
Do people think saying that a day’s clues are American specific should be spoilered? I avoided mentioning it but noticed 2 people mentioned it without spoilers.
I got Yellow easily. Finally got Blue, although I had to guess T-Pain, because I’ve never heard of him.. Then Green, sorta by default. Which left Purple, but probably never, ever would have figured that one out.
Yellow, Purple, Green, Blue for me. Purple jumped out at me after I got Yellow.
Purple first for me, but I “cheat” (according to my kids). I take a screenshot of the puzzle and mark up the groups I find. Then I make a guess as to which one is purple and enter that one first. My kids say that whichever group I actually found first (not which group I entered first) is what counts. I disagree. I’m not looking up answers and my method doesn’t give me any special advantage. It’s just easier than keeping it straight in my head.
Nah, you can play it how you want it. Sometimes I go purple hunting, sometimes I don’t. I don’t try to figure out the whole puzzle and then try to get it in reverse order, but I’ve seen people on YouTube basically solve the whole puzzle in their head and try purple-blue-green-yellow. Taking a screen shot is a bit more than I allow myself, but if it works for you, great!
Got purple first easily, because I know how purple works. Yellow, green, then blue (which was masquerading as a second purple-y group ).

On the wrong track there initially, but the fact I got the “one away” and swapped a right answer for a wrong answer helped me figure out what was going on.
Why would anyone even open this thread before solving today’s puzzle?
Because in my time zone I get the puzzle ahead of most of you, if I solve it first and post early, then I will spoiler protect the crap out of my post. But if I don’t get to it until after I get home from work, it’s already released everywhere else by then, so I am less vigilant about spoilering, as long as I’m not giving away actual answers. Vague things like saying the categories were very American doesn’t really spoil anything, in my opinion.

I got it pretty easily today.
Almanac gave me purple but I wonder if the non-US people will get insurance.
I got that one.
It was the blue one, this time, that was particularly American in flavour. Who the fuck cares what college a ball-guy went to? The rest of the world does not.

One word gave purple away.
Interesting. I thought purple might tie up the non-USans.
Purple did baffle me. Not sure mow many of the clues were US-centric but when I got the answer I only knew one of the links well enough to have any chance of picking it up.
Fortunately I do follow the NFL so managed to get blue along with green and yellow so got purple by default.
