pretty straight forward for me as well, no UScentric clues.
Everyone complaining about the U.S.-centric clues could just watch Only Connect on youtube.

I got purple right away and green and yellow were also easy. Blue took embarrassingly long to see…I was stuck on fitting nouns didn’t think of them all as verbs
The only connect wall is far more difficult than the NYT and I 5hink 9nly 0ossible 2ith unlimited tries until you only have two left. Watching it you can try and work out tge connections but you can not really work out which of the 5 or 6 connected words form a group.
Purple, Blue, Green, Yellow (with one error). Purple was so easy…
My experience with today’s blue was the same.
Thanks for the idea. Writing down the words/groups seems too obsessive, but taking a screen grab and highlighting the groups in different colors is easy and fun. I play on an iPad and the markers and erasers pop right up when I grab the screen.

Not much excitement here.
Today’s Purple is… well, I’ll let you all discover it for yourself.

Sunday
Failed on this one. Yellow and green I found very easy but only know 2 of the blue group.
Regarding Purple I would disagree with of the answers. Decaf ends in “caf” which is not a homophone for calf which is pronounced “carf” and the end of Prussian I would pronounce “shun” which I assume they are claiming is a homophone of shin. Are they closer with any American accents?
yeah purple doesnt work at all for me
I only got it from the other three categories being so easy. After purple could not really predict the colour of the other categories - they all seemed equally obvious
Not a fan of that purple but it was my last one.

Purple was tough but I saw it at the end. I thought it was fair enough as I’m pretty sure I’ve seen this category type before. I just didn’t like one of the words for it PRUSSIAN. I don’t pronounce that last syllable quite as “shin” but with a schwa. In my accent, “calf” and the end of “decaf” are pronounced exactly the same, though.

Yeah, only got purple by process of elimination.
There’s a reason I refer to purple as the stupid category.
I find it the most fun one, honestly. That and blue are usually the only ones that require some creative thinking. Usually. Every once in a while even the yellow is a bit tough.
Then again, my favorite NYTimes crossword day is Thursday, and some people really hate that one for being less straightforward and often gimmicky.
