Easy enough, I thought the blue was purple level and the purple was blue level, but otherwise fine.

Tough one for me today.
I saw the trees but had five if you include apple. Thought of V is for Vendetta but didn’t know any of the others. Took a brief detour with words where the first syllable is a verb (cedar, vendetta, cookie, easy), then decided to go for the trees. Then I saw the letters but thought it was just the first syllable so put in effort instead of easy. Blue was what was left.
I’m not sure if this should be spoiler protected, but there was a neat Easter Egg in the initial arrangement of words: A-B-C-D-E-F-G

Straightforward today.

I found today’s a bit tough.
I saw the five trees right away, so I had to hold off on those. Then I hit on V for Vendetta, A for Apple, and E for effort, but didn’t see a fourth.
So I knocked out yellow, and still had five trees. After much staring I finally figured out purple, and I still had five trees!
But since there are no cookie trees that I’m aware of, I slid that into blue, even though it still makes no sense to me. Quite a slog.
Anyone else notice the grammatical error in the category descriptions? Tsk, tsk, NYT.

I find that to be satisfactory.
Tuesday’s puzzle is mostly starightforward, though I couldn’t figure out the Purple category. It is gettable, I just didn’t get it.

All straightforward, green lines up with my interests so I got it first.

Once again, couldn’t quite suss out which was yellow and which green for the reverse. ZIP gave away the purple for me, but my thoughts first went to ZIP line, then PIPEline, then nothing could really fit. DRESSline? No, that’s a hemline. SUBWAY line? Sure, but I see METRO and TUBE there. So ZIP code came to me right after.
So easy today, that I felt like all,the categories were yellow.
