If you were a Democrat or Republican, what would you focus on?

Obviously if you are running for office you would focus on the weaknesses of the other party and the strengths in yours.

For example right now the democrats run off of hatred of Trump while republicans can bring up issues like the call to defund police and the recent rioting. A good candidate would be able to respond to both.

So if you were running for office what would you bring up if you were either a republican or democrat and what issues would you try to avoid?

It would depend a lot upon the office I was seeking. Or are you just asking about running for President?

If running as a Democrat, I would focus endlessly on how Republican incompetence has gotten the USA the worst-Covid-infected nation status in the entire world, and how things can and will get even worse yet if we don’t start doing things properly immediately and embrace science. Also, focus on how much better the nation’s finances would be if we would simply just embrace universal healthcare and tax the rich a lot more.

If running as a Republican, I’d focus on how much of the American public fears or opposes the SJW/cancel-culture/PC attitude of today and how it makes many people afraid to voice their views lest they be the next one “canceled.” Play the Silent-Majority-will-not-be-silent-any-longer angle - someone’s got to point out that the emperor’s clothes aren’t real.

I would like to drink from a fresh well. This one seems to have a bit of poison in it.

No. I’m thinking at most congress but mostly for a state or county position. Possibly a mayor or city council.

Indeed.

The real question is not why the Democrats hate Trump; it’s why the Republicans don’t hate the man who, upon learning that Russians had put bounties on the heads of US soldiers, said nothing and instead sent a load of ventilators to Russia (at a time they were desperately needed in the US) and pushed to have Russia re-admitted to the G8, the man who is using his office to keep his felonious cronies out of prison, the man who has exploded the deficit and weakened the economy, the man who this week is literally advertising products made by one of his donors (as is his daughter - you know, the one who has an advisory position in the White House and who despite no relevant experience has been sent to represent the US at the G7) from his desk in the Oval Office.

So if I were a Democrat (which I’m not), perhaps I’d focus on why the Republicans all appear to be absolutely fine with those things happening.

This - except that I am a liberal, and damned proud of it. How anyone could be proud of being a Republican at this point in time escapes me utterly.

And I agree with this as well. Well said, the two of you.
