"If You'll Be My Dixie Chicken......

“…I’ll Be Your Tennessee Lamb”, right?

Which is your preferred version? I like Little Feat.

Q

Is there any other?

I’ve yet to hear the Little Feat version. I grew up on Garth Brooks.

Not literally.

Garth Brooks?

GAAH! You made me think of what’s-her-face, that nutty metal maven mullet lover.

Dave Matthews dropping that line in the middle of “Crash Into Me” at Jazzfest one year.

racinchikki, buy the real version. listen to it until the ‘bighat watered-down cover’ fades from your memory. then you can move on to other little feat (‘strawberry flats’ – oh,oh. now someone’ll tell me that shania did a supermodel version;)

On the radio last week I heard an update on a contest they are having - there is a list of 20 bands and callers have to say which band they would want to be a member of. After 1 week The Rolling Stones were the most popular, after two weeks Little Feat had taken the lead. Surprised me.

Little Feat, one of the coolest bands ever. When we (family and band) went to see Bonnie at Red Rocks, Feat was opening for her. The ampitheater filled early, and ALL the early folk were wearing Feat t-shirts. Those people are FANATICS.

PS One of the best concerts, probably THE best, I’ve ever seen. Bonnie came out (in overalls) to sing backup with Feat, and then during her set she called out members of Feat to play with her. Zowie!

The only band I’d rather be in than Feat would be The Bobs.

Go! Get yourself some Feat!

I’ve only heard the Little Feat version, but I don’t really see how any other band or singer could improve upon it. Little Feat is so awesome - they’re so mellow and fun.

Brush with greatness moment…
When I was in Los Angeles I was at a gas station and couldn’t open the gas tank cover thingy on my rental car and one of the guys from the band helped me. We just started chatting and the band topic came up and he told me. Really nice guy. Didn’t get his name though.

I like the live one on Waiting for Columbus better than the one on the Dixie Chicken album.

Never seen them live, but saw them on Austin City Limits and captured them on tape. Those guys exude comfort . Know what I mean? You watch them and you absolutely know they’re “easy” with each other.

Feats, Don’t Fail Me Now!

There have been many cover versions of Dixie Chicken, but y’all are right: Ya can’t beat the original.

Rest In Peace, Lowell George! You are remembered and loved!

Q

And, yes, that’s where the Dixie Chicks got their name.
