On the off-chance that someone’s not heard of the Ig Nobel Prize, they’re awards given out for “Science that makes you laugh, and then makes you think.” NPR’s Science Friday is broadcasting the October award ceremony from this year. Its generally well worth a listen, if for nothing else, because of their method of time keeping for speeches. If someone goes on for too long, a little girl dressed as a princess walks up to the speaker, looks up at them, and says, “Please stop, I’m bored!” until they shut up.
Ooo! Thanks for the heads up!
I “DAR”* SciFri every week as a trial run for the Saturday and Sunday programs I record. Maybe I’ll actually listen to this week’s.
- Like DVR, but for audio.
I’m normally a big fan, but after 30 minutes I decided the ceremony really had to be seen, not heard.
I hate how they podcast Talk of the Nation (including Science Friday). They assume that you’re going to be listening to it with something like iTunes and if you download it from their podcast site to play on something else you can only get the first twenty minutes of the show.
Way to miss the point, guys.
