I really like my iGoogle - opens to a nice page with Google (of course) and the headline news stories, calendar, Gmail and a few other things I have chosen to be on that opening page.
It is my home page and yes, it really does feel like “home” when I open up my Internet.
Sadly, they are shutting iGoogle down starting November 1st.
Anybody else going to miss it?
Got some alternatives that will not gunk up the computer with pop ups and spam and require something stupid like Yahoo or, godforbid, AOL or something ridiculous?
I suppose I could live with just Google as my home page - that is what I used to use and it is just fine - but I will sort of miss the quick overview that I have gotten used to.
I’m going to miss it. At this point I guess I’ll just use Google. I really liked iGoogle with my weather, headlines, moon phases and sports scores all right there when I open Chrome.
I’m using Twitter for my homepage at the moment, since I have a bunch of headline news type sources and it’s ok. I miss having Google Calendar there, though. I might try using Feedly since I switch my RSS feeds over to that when Reader bit the dust. I might end up using an aggregator like News360 or Pulse though. I’m trying different things.
I do hope Google ends up regretting making their products less convenient and useful, though.
I am going to miss it, and I’m still not sure why they’re getting rid of it! I like my pages, and I’ve gotten quite used to opening my browser and immediately knowing where to look to see the time in Paris and Shanghai.
