I'll be in D.C. Wed, June 8. Wanna do lunch?

I’ll be attending a document management seminar in N.W. D.C. Wednesday June 8. It ends at noon. They’ll be serving lunch, but I’d much rather meet some fellow Dopers than eat Xerox food.

If you’ll be in the area and can stomach my obnoxious personality for an hour or so, let me know and we’ll hash out some plans.

Where abouts is the seminar? I am near the White House. Sorry, you probably don’t know me, I am kinda new.

Hi, brownie55. According to Mapquest, I’ll be six blocks from the White House. The address of the seminar is 1301 K. Street N.W.

I probably won’t be able to join you but I can suggest a place to meet: The Old Post Office Pavilion at 1100 Pennsylvania. They have a great food court, is walking distance from 1300 K (about 6 blocks south and two east), and convenient to Metro (Federal Triangle Station is across the street).

That sounds like a plan. Thanks for thinking of something convenient to the Metro.

So, how about it, brownie55. Would you like to meet there at 12:30? How about everyone else?

No problem. I used to work in one of the Government offices there.

Looks like some sort of dance troupe will be performing on the food court stage that day.

Oops, wrong link. It was supposed to be the event calendar.

I’m pretty agreeable to that. But, you will be on the other side of the White House from the Old Post Office.

There are quite a few restaurants on K street, too. OTOH, the food court will be considerably cheaper.

It’s to late to ask, but tell me about this obnoxious personality :dubious:

I can meet at a restaurant, too. I’m cool either way. If you prefer a restaurant, pick one. I don’t know anything about D.C. lunch spots, except what’s close to my firm’s D.C. office. I prefer an ethnic restaurant, but will pretty much (as my thighs can attest to) eat anything.

Oh, it’s pretty bad. I’ll try to behave, though.

Let’s see who else chimes in before we decide.

Not at all. Remember, the White House is at 1600 Pennsylvania.

Hey, I’m probably going to be tied up, but I’ll monitor the thread in case my plans change. I disagree with the suggestion of the Ol’ Post Office, though. It’s a bit more of a hike for one and maybe both of you than is necessary, and ever since Sept. 11th there’s a ton of security and, ergo, a huge hassle to get into the food court.

Oh, you mean north/south.

Hadn’t thought of that. I haven’t been there quite a long time.

Hi. I work at L’Enfant Plaza, and I might be able to swing by.

One option is just walking about 2 blocks west on K St. from where UrbanChic’s meeting is. That’s Farragut Square, and there’s loads of selections there.

:smack: Doh! Farragut Square also hosts not 1 but 2 Metro stations, Farragut West on the Orange/Blue line, and Farragut North on the Red Line.

Very cool as the red line is all I know.

:smack: I’ll hide now. :smack: You know I could once navigate oceans by the stars alone, now I need a Mapquest to go 3 blocks

IIRC, there’s another food court in The Shops at National Place (1331 Pennsylvania Ave.), which is near Metro Center. Less of a hike that the Old Post office and didn’t have much security issues when I was there a few months ago.

Is everyone’s email address in their profile valid? I’ll be sending confirmation email messages shortly.

Mine looks to be.
