I'll buy you any car you want. But one only. What will it be?

Actually, scratch this. First thing I’d do is curse the OP’s “Brewsters Millions” type fickleness (I assume part of the deal is we can’t just sell the delivered car for cash, we have to keep it). Then I’d order a small family car with probably a 1.6 diesel engine, which should give me close to 60 mpg in real world driving. The money I’d get from selling my existing car, not needing to buy a new car for several years, and lower running costs would help me move home, which is more important to me than any pleasure I’d get from the Jag.

Given the restrictions in the OP, I’d pick a new crew cab 4x4 F-150 with the EcoBoost engine. Decent mileage, can run over anything, and can carry whatever I need to. Being a turbo engine, it can probably be modded to get decent performance too.

The one vehicle restriction is a problem though, as I currently have 4 that each do very different things. No single vehicle can do everything I like to do with vehicles.

I’d like to change my vote. Tesla is coming out with a four-door sedan.

One please, with sunroof. Dark blue if you can get it. . .

My finances have been such that I haven’t even looked at new cars in a long time. I’d probably go with a decent mid-size sedan. Nothing too fancy, but roomy and reliable. All I do is city commuting with the occasional 3-5 hr road trip to visit the family and the only stuff I need to haul is computers and related tools. I’m single so no need for anything with large passenger capacity and parking a sedan in the city is far easier than an SUV. As far as recreation, just some guns and gear when going to the range.
Probably an import just due to the better production quality. Maybe a newer version of what I have now, a (very old) Mazda 626.
Solid, reliable, decent in the snow and ice we get in NY, good gas mileage, enough room for my 6’4" 375# body and occasionally my best friend who’s 6’8".
All the bells and whistles, please. Sat-nav, satellite radio, power eveything, etc.

Hyundai Sonata. A red one, please.

Probably the new mustang V6 with 6 speed manual. That or a 1988 Thunderbird turbo-coupe. I loved that car. If I could get the T-bird with the new Mustang engine and tranny that would be swell.

That’s the car we’re planning to buy later this summer (the 2011 Mustang).

I’d want the Bugatti Veyron. It just looks like pure sex. I don’t know how much miles it gets to the gallon and frankly I don’t care, I want that car. I’d use it to pick up chicks! Even better that I don’t have to worry about theft, as I would have gotten it anyway with the expectation that it was going to be stolen. But if I’m not paying for it, I don’t care that much.

From Wiki.

8 miles/g city 13miles/g highway

Top speed 3 mile/g

100L tank empties in under 13 min.

Ok maybe I’ll reconsider…

My husband recently bought a 2008 Civic and yesterday we took it for its first road trip. Very smooth ride. I usually get a bit nauseated working the controls on my cell phone (from the passenger seat) but nothing like that yesterday. I have to admit I’m impressed.

You’d certainly be able to pick up Jeremy Clarkson.

1969 cadillac el dorado.

Good thing, too, because at top speed the tires only last about 15 minutes.

I really wanted to go with a Tesla Roadster, but unfortunately I don’t have anywhere that I could plug it in at my current apartment, short of running a really long extension cord out through my kitchen window.

So failing that, I’ll go with a BMW 135i convertible with all the options. I like tiny cars that handle well and are fun to drive, and my commute is short enough (about 15 miles/day total) that I can afford to give up a little gas mileage from what I currently have (Toyota Yaris).

Probably a Prius or a Civic hybrid. To the OP: can I rent cars while traveling? Also, can I rent a cargo van if need be to move big crap I buy off of Craig’s List? Even if no to the latter, I’d deal.

Definitely don’t want a nice-looking German car; would not last all that long parked outside in my neighborhood. Hell, some douchebags smashed in the rear windshield on our 15-year-old Nissan Sentra just for giggles a month or two ago.

You can pick up the tab for the truck I’m going to get to replace the one I have when it dies: Nissan Frontier Crew Cab with 4-wheel drive, cap, luxury, tech and sport packages. Night Warrior grey, if you please.

OK, if I have to be sensible about it…for a general-purpose all-around daily driver, I’ve always wanted a Chevy Suburban. Kind of a fuel hog, but much better than they used to be. And they’ll do for any and all kinds of driving.

But putting practicality aside and asking for what I want… That would be Jay Leno’s 1955 Buick Roadmaster. Call me bourgeoisie if you want, I don’t mind. Loves me a big ol’ cruiser with those classic lines! Makes me want to point 'er west on Rt. 66 and open it up.

My first thought was I should ask for my dream car '70 Hemi Cuda Convertable but since it’s the only car I can drive and I need to drive on dirt roads in deep snow for my job I just don’t think that’s going to work.

I commute 106 miles a day and frequently drive more then 500 miles in a day so I’ll need something comfortable. Since I have to pay for fuel I’ll want it to be economical other wise my 1000 miles orad trips are going to start to dissapear. Plus I have to be able to drive through deep snow and ice for months at a time. It won’t be great but I think it’ll work I’ll take the new Tahoe Hybrids.

I choose something fun and sporty but dependable and big enough to carry 5, make vacation drives palatable, etc. It’s gotta be safe, reliable and make me smile evertime I crawl behind the wheel. I’ll stick with the Porsche Cayenne but upgrade to the Twin Turbo.

Btw, mhendo, thanks!
