I'll pay someone 1 million dollars if they can identify this song for me.

And left far behind?

Also, the singer was singing throttling the word ‘maybe’, not ‘hey’.

MAY-AY-AY-AY-BEEEEE

Thank you, Sir!

Yeah, I know that now. :smack: It had been awhile since I heard the song (enough so that I didn’t remember it save for that one line (which was wrong anyway) and had to offer up a million bucks to get it again–but at least I got the tune right! : D)

Heh. I *do *know that song, but I don’t think I ever would have come up with it since I was googling for “heys” or “ehs” or “ays”, etc. I don’t think it ever would have occurred to me to google for “mayayayabe…” :stuck_out_tongue:

I was going to suggest that, but it sounds more like “And I said ohhhhhhhh” than “hey.”

Possibly What’s Up? by 4 Non Blondes?

I am totally late coming to this thread, but I know the excitement you feel right now Idle Thoughts. I had a song stuck in my head for 20 years, with no idea what it was. It was my default earworm… the one that I went back to when no other song was stuck.

Over the years my mind had warped this wordless tune into several different styles. Sometimes slow, sometimes with a rock edge, sometimes very upbeat. I didn’t even know what the original tune was supposed to sound like.

One day, a few years ago, I stumbled onto it by accident online. I can’t remember how exactly, but the excitement and relief I felt were beyond words. Not to mention the closure, FINALLY, after decades of torture!

Turns out the song was a recurring tune used in the background soundtrack of “The Neverending Story”…the last place I would ever have thought to look. This was my oldest sons favorite movie when he was a small child, and like most kids, he watched it 47 gazillion times. Somehow this neverending tune got etched into my brain, where it haunted me for 20 years. My mind had jazzed it up so much, it was no longer recognizable as being from this movie I was so familiar with. Once I finally identified it, it seems to have deleted itself from by brains playlist.

For anyone who gives a crap, this was not the theme song by Limahl, but some subtle mysterious string of notes heard in the song Fantasia, as sampled here:
soundtrack to NES

Hopefully this mention of it won’t bring it back. To be safe, I will now go quickly and listen to some other music, any music, and wash all thoughts of it away.

Just wanted to mention to Idle Thoughts, I feel your joy!

Go sit outside.

Glad your mystery is solved, Idle Thoughts. I knew what the song was the second I listened to your audio. Not because *I’m *that good but because *you *are. I bet you’re killer at Cranium:)

This was fun. Anyone have another one?

Let me guess…is Cranium a game where you have to sing lyrics to songs and the people have to guess the song?

You know, I’m so glad we got this post resolved. For a while there, I was thinking that Bottecelli went musical.

Now here is my direct question: Does your song have only drums, save one gutiar chord that repeats early on?

Idle Thoughts, by the way, you should get that whole album by Candlebox. The album is one of the greatest rock albums of the twentieth century !

Really? I have that album, hell I saw 'em in concert a couple times and absolutely never would have guessed he was singing “Far Behind.” More props to you.

In the sixty’s… covered by many, many artists
