OH my sweet God in heaven I have been searching for that song FOR MONTH AND MONTHS WITH MILLIONS OF PEOPLE TELLING ME THEY DON’T KNOW WHAT IT IS AND WHY WOULD THEY? Because I only know that one part of it and YOU…YOU, MILLIT THE FRAIL, got it. You are my new hero. I will do anything you ever ask. kiss kiss kiss Thank you thank you thank you. SO MUCH. I’m not even very sophisticated with music, but your clip was good enough to take me back to high school. I’m absolutely shocked that I got it right! I’m happy to be of help. My husband is so impressed with me right now–he thought I might be on to something, but then we listened to it on YouTube and I was pretty sure I had it wrong. Glad to know I solved your mystery!

He should be! I’m floored here. So impressed. I didn’t even have the words right, just the tune, but you were able to recognize the tune based on just the horrible warbling that I tried to pass off as singing. And even though the words didn’t match up, you GOT IT SPOT ON.
Now here’s where the real fun comes in: Go listen to my clip again (trying to sing it) and listen to the REAL song again. I bet you’ll be more sure of yourself that that was it all long. Thank you. Thank your husband, too, you both rock.
Anyway, I will gladly pay for your charter membership for a few years now, if you want. Really, I don’t mind. Although you may still want the million. That has been driving me crazy. You know how some people can’t sleep for one day or two if they can’t think of something? I’ve been trying to find and think of that song since FEBRUARY. Almost a year.
And nobody seemed to know it from me singing it in tune. They were like “uh, nope, never heard of a song that sounds like that.” Please make me feel better by telling me my tune was, at least, pretty close? 
Man, I’m beside myself. I’m going to go put that song on repeat now.
Ha! That’s exactly what I was thinking. For some reason I feel kind of let down.
Hahah, well, I did say it was a fairly well-know group like Matchbox20 or Creed or Pearl Jam. It was just one of those that you’ve heard a lot of times but then it sort of fades out of your mind and you’re like “oh, what’s that song? It goes like…da da dada da da…you know the one I’m talking about?” And then you’re stuck forever looking for it just based on knowing, like, one line or one word. I’m just lucky I knew the tune because I was wrong on the words…
Don’t worry about it! Honestly, I’m happy just knowing I’m useful around here. This was my first post in a long time, actually; real life has been kicking my butt and keeping me off the boards for a few months. The tune was really what did it–the words were what threw me off when I called it up on YouTube. I was like, "Aw, man, it’s not really “Hey hey hey hey hey!” But you got the sound of it right, even without the right words. My singing is just as warbly, maybe we speak the same language?
This reminds me of the time I was trying to find a song and only knew the words “Wo-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-ohhhhh. Wo-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh!” It was Swingtown. :smack:
Hm, I know the song and would have remembered it off the top of my head, but I’m not sure if I would have gotten it from your recording. Not that it’s out of tune or anything, but I think I’m really terrible at putting in words when some of them are right and others are wrong. Gah.

Nice work millit, I’d be pissed if I had figured it out before I noticed your post! As soon as I head the singing clip I knew exactly what song he was thinking of, but I just couldnt place it. I forgot candlebox- I couldve sworn it was Live, or Soul Asylum, or Silverchair, but I kept thinking it must be Live.

I would have totally nailed this if I had heard the clip before someone got the right answer. The thing is, the guy’s slurring a bunch of words together into the “heys.”
That is comforting to know, still. That the answer would have come eventually even if someone hadn’t gotten it before.
