42fish, here, was responding precisely to claims that adaher has made. The fact that those claims are by adaher are both wrong and reflect badly on his gullibility is in no way a personal comment or a personal attack. The claims are wrong.
tomndebb, when I see a moderator who cannot moderate a shits and giggles forum properly, and has been corrected for her improper moderation of that forum move over to a serious forum and screw up her calls there, I’ll say something. If, in the act of circling the wagons, you post something that’s wrong, I’ll say that too.
You are wrong. There is nothing wrong with 42fish’s post.
And, frankly, I’m at the point where I give very little shit about this board any more. The past few years have changed the style and the ambience of the SDMB beyond all recognition. So if y’all want to suspend me, or ban me, or make me an unperson, I honestly don’t care anymore.
Frank. My only run in with you was a very polite PM from you explaining a rule I had unintentionally broken. You are far from the worst mod the dope ever had.

Personal attacks are prohibited in GD and Elections. 42fish launched one on adaher (regardless whether he alluded to posts adaher had submitted, the attack was personal), and your attack on twickster was personal. You were both told to stop violating the rules. Other than that, banning you seems like a lot of work if you just want to leave.
Tell me, what made the post a personal attack on adaher? The statements that: he accused other posters of lacking intellectual integrity? He responded to a factual correction by accusing a poster of revisionist history? He posts counterfactual information gleaned from the Birthers, the Benghazists, the unskewed polls?
I’m dubious about twickster’s mod-noting 42fish’s post, but I gotta say that post 144 by Frank was pretty inappropriate, probably warnable. Jeez Frank, I hope you don’t go the suicide-by-mod route. It’s undignified. Taking time off OTOH, isn’t a bad thing, generally speaking.
Yeah, Frank, it looks like you’re starting down the classic path of meltdown, and that’s not something I want to see. It’s one thing to lose a nobody who never contributes (still not something I like to see, but no tears shed), but you’re a constructive poster around here. If you get yourself banned, or storm off in a minute and a huff, it’ll be a loss for us.
Frank, Twix gave a perfectly appropriate mod-note. In meant, in effect, ‘hey, this is getting overheated. Let’s tone it down a bit.’ No permanent record, no moderator action, no nothing. Just a quiet reminder that polite discourse should be, well, polite.
Were I an Elections moderator, however, I would have warned you for your follow up. It was completely out of line and a direct personal attack on another poster. It’s something you should know better than to do. I don’t care if you’re frustrated, disagree or are simply having a bad day, attacking or insulting another moderator is just not allowed.
This place has changed, my wife has changed over the years, I’ve changed. Better or worse is really up to someone else. Frank I always liked (I think as a mod and I know for sure as a poster) but when you start a premiss/thread with “I’ll pull this kind of stunt whenever I want to” you lost me. Don’t know for sure how it was meant but something in it just strikes me wrong. And after reading the post in the thread -------- I’m just not real sure about much anymore. Maybe some time away is best; I don’t know. But both combined look like some sign of something that isn’t good.
I don’t think Frank is having a “meltdown.” I think he’s sick of twickster’s shitty moderation shitting up the place. Her consistent shitty moderation shits things up badly enough to make someone want to leave and never come back.
Someone said essentially “You believe in and tout a lot of uninformed bullshit” and she had to step in and mod that? She’s said worse things to posters as a moderator. Useless indeed. And moderating that particular post in the context of the rest of that thread? Sure.
And Frank, you’re at least, like, the third worst moderator.
Frank, you’re way out of line here. Twickster’s note in the cited thread was perfectly reasonable. Even if it hadn’t been, our rules state: “By registering and using the board you … agree to abide by our rules and to submit to their interpretation and enforcement by our moderators and editors.” If you’ve got a beef, you’re free to post about it in ATMB, but we expect you to be civil about it, not heap abuse. Maybe you were having a rough day, I don’t know. But don’t do this again.
