I'm a Born-again Avatar fan!

In all fairness, my entertainment choices have always bent towards the childlike (heck I’m still mostly a child myself) so this probably should not come as quite the surprise, but for the last ten or so years the shows on Nickelodeon have proven extremely unsatsifactory, especially compared to my childhood of Ren+Stimpy, Who’s Afraid of the Dark, and Clarissa Explains it All.

Anyway, I heard from a few friends that “Avatar: The Last Airbender” is an extremly good show. I scoffed, thinking that being a cartoon and not anime that it was clearly inferior (oh how wrong I was/am).

This show is quality. The animation, character development, plot pacing, fight choreography, and sense of humor are all extremely well-done. It’s suitable for all ages and is enjoyable by all ages.

I was wrong, and I’m not afraid to admit it. Avatar rocks!

I couldn’t agree more. I’d even go as far to say it’s one the best animated shows that’s not a comedy (though there is humour) that i’ve seen.

How far are you into the series? Have you hit Book 2 yet?

Zuko is possibly one of the best villains on a TV show ever, as a character. He’s wrong and evil, but you understand why, and you empathize with his fatal flaw.

I love Uncle Iro. “Do you know why the call me, the Dragon of the West?”

He’s great. As is Toph… a twelve year old, and the WWF champion.
I like Ty Lee, as well, for her pleasant disposition whilst conquering the free peoples.
(Then again, I have a soft spot for Preying Mantis Kung Fu… and for Monkey style as well. )
