I guess that sometimes in life, you have to take a stand for what you believe in. As little as I understand why that’s what you want to take such a strong stand, you seem to realize the consequences of your actions and have no regrets. I can’t really begrudge you for that.

funny, I’d just read that thread. And frankly I didn’t understand why you posted vs. e-mailed the mod in the first place.
I was posting in one thread where folks opinions got pretty hot, and a mod stepped in and said “knock it off all of you”. Now, I didn’t THINK I’d stepped over any lines, but instead of posting after his and saying "gee, what’s wrong with “quotemyself”, how’s it any different than “quotesomebodyelese”?, I e-mailed him and asked “did I personlly step over any line”. he responded, and then I knew the answer.
It reminded me of Bart Simpson type of behavior, “so, you’re telling me I shouldn’t call Lisa a geek?” kind of thing.
And, frankly, had that thread not gotten into such a sidetracked “is this an insult or is this an insult” kind of thing, I’d have responded to the OP “gee, I voted for Gore, and I’m tired of your stance of starting a new thread at every turn of events, over characterization of the other side’s opinions etc.”.
IMHO, the first insult you posted that got you the warning, well, I probably wouldn’t have done it (I get tired of all the snippiness on both sides), but you got the warning. At that point, either e-mail the mod with your question or simply lay off - you didn’t even have to specifically address it with a “sorry”, you could have returned to the OP and argued your point there. Instead you chose to get into a contest of wills with the mod. Learn from the experience and move on.

Please be advised that not all people who believe in individual rights, including the right to firearms, are so stupid that they can’t read and understand forum descriptions.
Further, not all of us are so stupid as to confuse a mass uprising against a war with some guy peeved that he can’t call someone a poopy-head on someone else’s property.

I suspect ExTank and my politics are quite far apart, but I always make a point to read his posts. The forums without him would be worse off IMO. Also, IMO, he is one of the “best-spoken” posters here, whether you agree with him or not. Wanted to let you know I printed out the entire “Tanks obsolete” thread for my 11 yr-old son. He loved it, particularly your posts.
Of course, I would expect a warrior to realize that he has to pick his battles. I certainly did not find his remarks in that thread offensive, tho I questioned his reason for pursuing the line. And I’ve proven my ignorance as to the technicalities and subtleties of the various boards. And it seems like quite a few folk here have pretty thin skins. Quite willing to dish it out, but…
So now you just have to be more creative. Find ways to criticize your GD opponent without crossing the line into direct personal insults. Accept it as a challenge. And if you get your hand slapped for a minor violation, regroup, adapt, and improve.
These are privately run, moderated boards, not to be mistaken for a democracy or an open free-speech forum. Sure there are a majority political biases on several issues among posters and moderators alike. Sure the moderators are fallible. No duh.
What I’m probably most disappointed at, ExTank, is that your posting in that manner, and persisting in a futile cause, suggests you don’t value remaining on these boards, acknowledging their flaws and shhortcomings, as much as I’d like you to remain here.
