I'm addicted to carbonation

I can’t go a day without feeling the intense tingling on the back of my throat. I live for that feeling. It’s quite sad, really.

Just thought I’d share as I happily drink my evening rootbeer.

You’re crazy.

cracks open Dr. Pepper

It’s not so much the carbonation as it is the delightful pucker from the sourness your mouth gets from something like Red Bull.
Mmmmm…

I’m the same. It’s not the flavor or the caffeine I crave so much as the carbonation.

mmmmmm… bubbles

I love that tingling little sting you get with a freshly opened bottle of pop. I like to just hold the first sip in my mouth, and just let it pop and fizz on my tongue.

Aaaaaahhhh…

O.O

The carbonation is the main reason I almost never drink soda. It HURTS!!!

I am also a carbonation junkie. My resolution to this was to start drinking club soda (with or without a little fruit juice for flavour). I get all the bubbles without any of the incredibly huge amounts of sugar or the devil’s chemical, artificial sweetener.

You know, if you put dry ice in a drink, it carbonates and chills the drink for you*. Just sayin’.

*For the love of God, I hope no one’s dumb enough to drink before the dry ice all evaporates, but still: Wait for it to stop fizzing madly before consuming.

In that case stay away from Vernors ginger ale, your head will explode!

Ever tried Talking Rain sparkling water? They come in various flavors, all very subtle and it definitely satisfies the need for da bubbles. They also have non-flavored sparkling water, though tangerine is my favorite.

Me too. I have been on a sparkling water kick recently. I like Pelegrino with a squeeze of lemon. So refreshing! I also like the sparkling water with lime, lemon, citrus, and a really great one is the Calistoga black cherry. These are not the sweet calorie-free ones, they’re just plain sparkling water with a tiny hint of flavor (but they’re still calorie free though).

I also live for my Diet Cokes in the morning. I can’t wake up without them. I drink regular (caffeinated) in the morning, and caffeine-free in the afternoons.

I love the bubbles, too, and this poses problems after gastric by-pass surgery. The bubbles really hurt! I have to sip slowly, and let the drink stand for a while, and then what’s the point? Cans have less painful carbonation than bottles, I’ve discovered. And I drink a lot less than I used to…the bubbles cause other prblems that can last for a day or two. But still drinks just don’t seem as refreshing as bubbly ones, though plain water is still better than everything else in my book.

I adore carbonation, but it hates me. I had to give up carbonated drinks because they gave me a case of the bends at 2 a.m. It’s a horrible way to wake up, feeling as if someone just kidney-punched you! Some of the less aggressively fizzy stuff isn’t as upsetting, like Whole Foods’ brand grapefruit and tangerine juice sodas. Since I can’t drink much of even them, I sure look forward to the treat of drinking my 1/2 cup. But I do miss a Dr. Pepper or an IBC root beer.

On the nose. That burning sensation feels sooo good. Taking a mouthful and then pressing your tongue against the roof of your mouth…Mmmmmmmm…

Well thank heaven for you people. I thought I was the only one.

I went so far as to try caffeine-free, then sugar-free, then both. What conclusion did I arrive at? It’s the carbonation that I’m addicted to! Why, I dunno, but it sure is one of life’s pleasures.

I must drink about a gallon a day of carbonated water. My wife’s nearly as bad. We ended up buying a carbonator so as not to go broke over the issue.

Let it be known that I punctuated the sending of this post with a hearty belch.
