I first took the Myers-Briggs Personality test in High School. I’ve taken it twice since then and I’m always an ESTP.
E is for Extroverted (as opposed to Introverted). S is for Sensing (as opposed to Intuition). T is for thinking (as opposed to Feeling) and P is for Perceiving (as opposed to Judging).
The test is based on Carl Jung’s theory that one’s personality type determines how one processes information. He cautioned that there is no such thing as ‘pure’ type and a psychologically healthy person is able to draw on all functions when appropriate.
When you first took the test, what was your personality type? Did you take it later in life? Did your type change?
By the way, if you’ve never taken the test and would like to, there’s a link on the official site to a test. I think it requires an email address, though.
The very first time I took the test way back when, I was an INTP. The I, N and P were all very pronounced, but the T was kind of weak. Over the next few times I took the test, the T gradually migrated to an F.
ISTJ. I’ve tested as one since the first time I took it, and I still test that way-I just took it again for my newest job. I have become slightly less of an introvert over the years, but I’m still nowhere near an extrovert.
Actually, each time I’ve taken the test, I’ve been told that my type is rare. Online, they said that only 2% of the population in ESFP, IIRC. Apparently I’d make a good Mother Teresa.
I’ve always been a cross between an ENTP and an INTJ when tested. You know, one is a mental side, and the other is the physical projection of the mental side.
I’m a total INTJ, although I sometimes score close to INTP. I don’t think INTJs are drones; they’re usually considered the most independent of the types. They’re also supposed to be rare in the general population, but I’ve found they’re better represented in Internet groups like this one.
Well, I just took the test and I’m an “SP”, which is an “Artisan” type.
There are apparently four subtypes of “Artisan”, but they want to charge me a sawbuck to tell me which specific one I am. Unfortunately, my character type apparently doesn’t pay for this kind of test.
(Everyone else has four letters. I only have two. I feel inadequate somehow. I assume that the other two letters that everyone else got came in the second part of the report?)
I give it a so-so accuracy, but in all modesty, I must say that it nailed me when (and I say this as humbly as possible) it told me that I was (and I only repeat this in the interests of science) “irresistibly charming”. It’s sooooo true!
I have taken this test a bunch of times over a number of years and have always gotten ENFP - Extroverted, Intuitive, Feeling, Perceptive.
There’s a list out there of MBTI “prayers” which is a riot if you know the details of your type. I should see if I can find a link…mine is: “Dear God, please help me keep my mind on one - oh look a bird! - thing at a time”
